Anyone else think....

that the reason were getting weapon traits balanced is so we won't cry as much when they raise the gear cap? Ever since the patch notes dropped I can't help but think this, I hope I'm wrong. As much as I don't like RNG there is a sense of accomplishment when the weapon I want drops, but I don't think that will hold true when I'm re-farming gear I already had.

Curious what everyone's thoughts are and maybe hoping someone will convince me that ZoS wouldn't do that to us.

My inventory would welcome a gear cap increase at this point

Since One Tamriel there is really no reason to ever raise the gear cap again. Level scaling in ESO is now different than any other game I have ever played. Increasing the cap means everyone has to regrind just to get back to the same relative power level compared to the monsters that they had before the cap was raised.

They also had a big opportunity to raise the cap with Morrowind and the new chapters approach to the game. They passed on doing this with Morrowind, so make of that what you will.

I don't see any reason to increase the gearcap unless they also increase the mob scaling to the same level. So... what would be the point?

It just doesn't make sense in a scaled world like this. But maybe I'm missing something.

Stormproof: Vibeke - 50 EP mDragonknight | Savi Dreloth - 50 EP Magsorc | Sadi Dreloth - 50 EP Magblade | Sigtric Stormaxe - 50 EP Stamsorc | Valora Dreloth - 50 EP Magplar | Sigtric the Unbearable 50 EP Stam Warden
Scrub: Chews-on-Beavers - 50 EP DK Tank | Vera the Wild - 50 EP magicka Warden | Sigtric the Axe - 50 EP Dragonknight Crafter | Sigtric the Blade - 50 EP Lost Nightblade | Sigtric the Savage - 50 EP magicka Templar | Vibeka Shadowblade - 50 Ep Stealthy Ganky Nightblade |

go ahead... let ZOS raise gear cap without introducing a mechanism to "level" gear via crafting.. I dare them.

While I (and most people, I believe) agree there's little reason to raise the cap to just get to where you before, let me play devil's advocate. If they continue to raise the CP cap and never increase the gear cap, more and more of our power will come from CPs and gear will become less and less powerful in comparison.

Is that enough of a reason to make us re-grind all of our gear that we already had? I don't think so, but someone might.
