I have two suggestions that would add to immersion and the Homestead experience.
We all have homes now, even those of us who just have the free apartment. Why not add incentive for usage by creating a Rest benefit. When one logs out in an owned home, they gain Rest, which gives the Well Rested bonus and gives us an experience boost. Other games have similar features and I was quite surprised to find that ESO does not. I believe this would add to housing functionality and give players a good reason to utilize housing.
My second suggestion is this: let us lay in our beds! Many beds with canopies cannot currently be laid upon due to position and the fact that there is no way to interact with the bed as an object. Please add the Sit and Lay Down interactions. I recommend making it so that initially you sit on the bed with E and then, once sitting, you can hit E again to lay down.
If you're worried about encouraging two characters to lay side by side, not touching, in a bed, then you can make it so you can only interact with an owned bed.
It may be lonely, but at least we could rest after a long day's worth of saving and serving Tamriel.
(If/when you add this, is there any way you can make it so we sit (interact with seating) based on the direction we're facing, instead of the opposite way we intended?)
So there you have it; two ways you can add functionality to housing, increasing those who use and/or purchase homes, as well as satiating RPers who just want to take a nap!
