New balance idea.

So I have an idea on how they could balance the game, rid us of an aweful grind, bring back the usefulness of crafters and enable you to look the way you want.

Step 1 remove all armor sets from the game. Yes I know your probably like what? Why? I'll explain in stage 2

Step 2 add 3 enchant slots on all small pieces of gear and 5 on the big ones.

Step 3 create new glyphs that give stats much like the health and stam magica glyphs. Example ( brutality glyph adds weapon damage + x amount) glyphs that essentially give the stats that crafted sets give. Use these glyphs in the new slots.

Step 4 create special glyphs that when you complete the set you gain a unique ability ( aka the 5th ability on an armor set. Limit these to only have one unique ability active. Ergo if you complete a set like viper you get the viper ability. However if you try to apply another ability glyph to other parts of armor the game will say error or something.

The reasoning behind these changes would be that 1 armor would be cosmetic only. The light medium and heavy tiers would increase your stats accordingly. The glyphs you give yourself are what makes the build. So say you place 1 health glyph one damage glyph one recovery glyph. Boom that's your 3 glyphs on your armor. The limits to only 1 glyph ability would make it so proc sets didn't exhist. Full armor glyph freedom would encourge more build diversity. If you want to stack everything into damage go for it. But remember without heath enchantes your going to be hurting. Also this would make it take less time to grind for particular sets and make you have to grind out the ability glyph only. Since armor will be crafted in the style of your choice. To make sets much less of a grind you could make these ability glyphs removeable so you don't have to grind multiple sets.

This would reduce the grind it is to become a "master crafter" as all you would have to do is level up your crafting and learn the motifs.

Also with this new layout zos wouldnt have to spend time on balancing sets for new patches and dlc as only new cosmetics would be being introduced and maybe new ability glyphs. So zos could focus on fixing actual game problems and less about what's going to be more broken next patch.

So basically everything becomes a build-your-own sets thing that everyone can do...

this kind of approach tends to lead to sterile, flavorless results and little actual diversity.

See right now they can give TBS a double mundus 5pc in part because the 2-3-4 dont do so hot. They can give julianos a decent 5pc because the 2-3-4 are good offensively speaking. because each set is a package deal, you can combine not-so-hot with -really-good and still get balance with the other sets which are all good.

Going to a piecemeal building blocks tends to almost always weed out the unique combos and the oddballs in favor of more generic and safe blocks.

We dont need to kill flavor for balance and there is no evidence that this approach would do anything more for balance than we have now.

I'd go back to SWTOR for a more interesting system (and SWTOR is boring).

Not sure if u r saying "dumb it down, so that there is only one set" or "keep the amount of possible sets but overcomplicate how u get them".

In both cases: How is that supposed to balance anything?
