That is what ruined LOTRO raiding. Used to be a far more cooperative system, now it's just a "who's got all the endgame crap already" circlejoke. One of the reasons I'm willing to try grouping in this game is the lack of that nonsense and I hope they never implement it.

It's an interesting idea, but tbh there's a *** tonne of ways that players themselves can create this elitist sytem, be it via twitch or youtube videos or Addons that format everything intp a spiffy little UI view.

Do I think the devs should invest their time into a vanity system such as this?

Nah, the playerbase that this would target is in my opinion, a small base.

    At least for now.

If they bring inspect gear in I want an Auction house too, if your copying WoW one way you should copy it the next thanks.

Kyle that last part didn't make any sense. Could you clarify?

Wasn't it WoW that allowed you to inspect gear of others before any other mmo?

    No.

    Op wants:

Giant shoulders with teeth and chains on it.
    An auction house
    To Inspect gear

Because this has received so many bites I rate this as 10/10 troll. If not a troll, then I know just that game that will satisfy OP, it comes with a mandatory subscription and everything OP wants.

If serious, I completely disagree because lol @ ESO caste system. GTFO.

Gear is important. But knowing how to use and combine skills even more.

lol honestly if a person isn't going to run with you if you don't have the right gear theyre already MORE than capable of excluding you now.
All they have to do is tell you to link each piece of your gear in the chat window and if you don't do it they'll assume you don't have it. simple.
All an add-on would do is make this process faster for a person who's already doing it.

This has to be the worst idea I've ever seen on the forums. What next, players with less than BiS gear are shunted to "ghetto" zones, unable to leave until they acquire top-level gear? After that, how about confining the Khajit and Argonian toons to one zone, so they can't "pollute" the realms of Elves and Men? And then, you can enslave the "lesser races" and force them to start building giant ovens...

No, hell no, and F*CK NO! I get enough of that crap IRL, I don't want it here too!

Gear inspection created a lot of absurdity between players in DCUO. I do, however, wish you could inspect styles for certain gear. DCUO does not have this, but SWTOR does. And I'll never understand why the devs don't at least label the damn styles for armor. We shouldn't need an add-on for that.

I'd rather not annoy absolutely every Nightblade I come across to get a rough idea on what people are using. I'll just read the forums instead! (but knowing in game without asking everyone would be great)

We need to be able to inspect each others gear. This creates elitism. Some want the element of elitism and some do not. To prove my point that it is beneficial to the game, just look at the social class system. We have poor people, middle class people, and rich people. By having this class structure, we strive to better ourselves. We have no way of knowing if we are keeping up with the joneses by keeping gear private. If people enjoy being poor then that is their prerogative and they can mingle within their class. In conclusion, Elitism spawns from the ability to inspect players gear. Elitism is a mechanic that is desperately needed in this game even more so than an auction house.

    yeah....nah.

Gear inspection leads to the DCUO Paradox paradox.

In ESO terms, we'd end up in a position of "Oh...you want to run White Gold Tower? Wait, you don't have SPC gear. No. No WGT run for you. Come back when you have SPC gear."

Eh...SPC and WGT was the first thing that sprung to mind.

It could just as easily be "Oh...you're wearing crafted gear? *kick*".

The end result is that people get kicked for not having the right gear.

This sort of elitism (for want of a better word) may already happen...but I'd put money on it becoming more frequent if gear inspection was available.

yeh. no inspection. it will end up like wow. people dont like your gear and kick you out of groups.

I don't care what the person next to me is wearing .. & I care even less for elitism

If time & effort were to be wasted on implementing such a ridiculous non-feature, then I expect just as much time & effort to be wasted on implementing a switch in options to auto-decline people from inspecting my gear :)
