We need to be able to inspect each others gear. This creates elitism. Some want the element of elitism and some do not. To prove my point that it is beneficial to the game, just look at the social class system. We have poor people, middle class people, and rich people. By having this class structure, we strive to better ourselves. We have no way of knowing if we are keeping up with the joneses by keeping gear private. If people enjoy being poor then that is their prerogative and they can mingle within their class. In conclusion, Elitism spawns from the ability to inspect players gear. Elitism is a mechanic that is desperately needed in this game even more so than an auction house.

Kyle that last part didn't make any sense. Could you clarify?
I admit, the way I worded that was a little poor but what I was trying to say is basically we need to have that class structure where you have the elite guys, the guys who are in the middle somewhere, and those who just plain suck at life and should be booted. I don't know about you but I think its funny when someone gets in over their head and ends up getting booted. Makes me chuckle.

Add the problem that WOW has an very linear gear setup, one class and role have one set of gear.Kyle1983b14_ESO wrote: »If they bring inspect gear in I want an Auction house too, if your copying WoW one way you should copy it the next thanks.
Everquest had it before Wow
yeah....nah.
Gear inspection leads to the DCUO Paradox paradox.
In ESO terms, we'd end up in a position of "Oh...you want to run White Gold Tower? Wait, you don't have SPC gear. No. No WGT run for you. Come back when you have SPC gear."
edit: for those who have not played DUCO, when the Origin Crisis DLC launched, the hardest raid at the time (and for some time after) was Paradox Wave. Soon after it launched (and again...for some time after), a good number of groups refused to run it with anybody who had not completed it. Essentially, you had to have completed Paradox Wave before you were allowed to join a group for Paradox Wave.

Eh...SPC and WGT was the first thing that sprung to mind.yeah....nah.

If that is your reason, then your position is defeated by your own example.
We can easily tell, today, with what we have in game already whether someone has SPC gear or not. Or Wurm, other buff sets etc.
10 seconds into first trash fight, when there is no SPC buff proc, you know the healer has it or not. All group members can see the buffs that proc on them. For some sets like Wurm it's even easier, the circling blue orb animation.
Bottom line - if someone is denied a spot in WGT or other dungeon by your reasoning that if players knew they lacked certain gear, that environment already exists today. An inspect function would not change that.
What it would do is provide a means to examine other, less easily observed gear, such as VMA weapons or not. Your argument should therefore be that inspection might - I say might - increase the frequency of group kicks. But if someone is going to be that elitism about it - as I said, the capability to know what buff sets you are or are not running is already in game today.
