I've been reading some posts saying that CP gear will increase from CP160, but no one has provided evidence that confirms it. One poster even said that ZOS mentioned the increase on ESO Live and/or the German forums. Can anyone confirm?

They are more likely to remove gear level/CP requirements than to raise the cap, in my opinion.

As far as I'm aware that's not currently planned.

I'd love to see that. I hope your opinion is correct.

There will be a 30CP increase from the normal cap which is currently 630. Items will remain CP160.

ZOS has said IF/WHEN it happens it'll be in a way that your farmed gear isn't useless so maybe an upgrade system. But, they have not said that it will happen anytime soon. Personally I think the uproar that would cause wouldn't be worth it.

Zos made the above statement just a few months ago after Morrowind was announced.

I also agree with Vapirko that it would not be a good idea. Zos has never had valid justification when they raised the level cap from v10-v12-v14 and v16. Each time it was the new content requires it which is out the door now and Zos doesn't give us anything more when they do raise the level cap.

A couple months ago, people were using hand keyed h1:item codes to create the illusion of CR180 or CR200 items. To drive the point home, I made this:

    SnstJCC.jpg

No, that item doesn't exist in game (obviously). No, there's no way a sub50 item can have a CR requirement, nor any way for a crafted item to be stolen. To say nothing of crafted jewelry in a drop set. But, hey, there you go, one fake item, that could be linked in game, to scare people. Even though, I never actually linked it in chat.

What you can do is create fake items. At the time, people were linking CR180 items. They're not real, no reason to panic. The gear cap may increase one day, but it's not going to be soon.

i REALLY hope thats true - gear level increase is absolutly NOT necessary and only has negative consequences due to all the grinding you would have to do again...i think it might push some people with a lot of characters over the edge that they just give up and move on...while not having ANY benefit on the game...

Gear level is also not really required with the eso system and one tamriel tbh - they can continue to raise cp if they want and this will be much smoother

so please NO increase in gear levels

That's not entirely true. They did have a reasoning. Whether it's a legitimate justification is entirely subjective.

The plan, back then, was that they'd keep the endgame players invested by moving the goal posts every release or two. That way, you were never truly, "endgame geared," for all time. Now, if that feels like BS to you... it kinda is.

The problem they ran into with Craglorn was, they didn't change the endgame material, so everyone who hit v14 was able to instantly gear up to that, with crafted gear, and never needed to worry about grinding for gear or participating in endgame content (if they didn't want to.) Also, remember, back then, crafted gear was actually two levels above its requirements. So that crafted V14 gear was (effectively) V16 drop gear (which didn't exist yet).

With the Imperial City, ZOS did what ZOS does best: Identify a problem, and then overreact in the extreme. V16 gear was stupidly hard to obtain, the material costs were (and are) astronomical, and the hidden +2 level adjust was removed. Any one of these things would have been reasonable, but combined they ratcheted up the gear treadmill substantially. Remember, the original plan was for gear to get upgraded to V18 with Wrothgar, and there was an entire 11th tier of mats datamined to go with that.

But, the ruby tier was way too much of a pain to collect, and ZOS backed off of that, and left us stuck with the ugly Ruby tier ever since.

I would love to see a gear upgrade system so people who slaved on golding their favorite set of gear can keep it instead having to consider the effort all wasted and needing to do it all over again for the next set...

Or who knows... I mean, I doubt they would ever remove gear levels entirely, but with the current battle levelling system in place, they -could- take a look on rebalancing the whole system (perhaps even removing some of the more... colorful... crafting material stages?)

    I suppose, time will tell.

No, this is not confirmed. Last thing I've heard/read was that it is planned to upgrade the CP gear, but when....? Nobody knows.

I really hope that this comes in 2018 or later... don't want to farm again all my BIS clothes... o.O

It's not as simple as it sounds. Plainly increasing the gear CAP wont work. Monster lvl, damage balance and so many other things are associated with it. So unless we see another of these huge balance patches, not happening.

Well, if so.. ZOS/dev, if any of you are reading this and if such will surely happen, then please (hey, I said please) just ensure the items we have currently in gold are automatically bumped up to the upgraded level.. yeah? At least do that; otherwise, would just be a waste of tons of gold mats. You may have a riot on your hands, if not.

Ha ha.. well, going on two years now and 10 character slots, I'm still constantly farming mats to refined to gold so I can gold out all my toons. Essentially, it's what is still keeping me in the game. I dread the day when all my toons are gold out, and then seemingly no more need to farm for mats. I guess wait on future DLC.. hmmm

I'll be a sad panda if / when it happens. I know people say that it hapens in every MMO.

Well, why can't ESO be the game that goes about it differently?

(I'm not saying that there isn't a game that doesn't do gear differently, so please don't nerd-rage on me. The only MMO I've ever really played has been ESO.)

And this is why they may raise it someday. You are done in their eyes and when a player is done they eventually lose those players.
MMOs are all about the gradual increase in GEAR. That is what it is all about, leveling and gear that matches. Otherwise why have levels or gear to match. Why create the complicated dungeons that people have to "farm" to get the best gear.
You can only manipulate the attributes so much on a specific level gear.
If dungeon "X" has better gear than dungeon "Y" but is same level, then why even do dungeon "Y." This equals lost content. I see them raising the level, but not 20 CP points. That is not enough. I can do 20 cp points in a few days not even be enlightened. It will probably be significant. IMO it should be 400 -600cp or something to that extent. Something that takes a while to get to, otherwise like I say you lose content worth playing.
And for those that say they are not ready to farm another gear set, yes you are or you wouldn't be here. If you already farmed one set, you will do it again and they know it.
The only thing that took me away from Lotro was real life work and a little drama in the raiding KIn(guild) i was in. Mostly real life work was overwhelming. The "I don't want to do it again" is the fear of not having the "best available" and as soon as they raise it, you will no longer have the "best available" gear. So off to farming you go and they have retained a subscriber with new content for just a little longer.
