Tank Advice

Are stamina tanks even a thing? I'm looking at all of my skills, because I want to tank on my warden...but all of the winter (tank) skills are magicka. As a stamina class, who wants to swap between tank and DPS...that seems impossible with this class. So how does one be a tank when so many class skills are magicka?
Yes, I do heartily repent. I repent I had not done more mischief; and that we did not cut the throats of them that took us, and I am extremely sorry that you aren't hanged as well as we.

You need both types of skills as a tank

How does that work? I guess we're not focused so much on damage at that point, huh? lol...

As a tank, most of your Stamina will go into blocking as well as the melee taunt. There are a bunch of other Stamina skills to.use like Heroic Slash, Guard and Vigor but you'll need to make sure you still have the Stamina left to keep blocking until the.next pot or Shard/Orb synergy

Your other skills will be Magicka to help mitigate damage by buffing up (Ice Fortress) or Healing (Enchanted Growth) while also helping the group (Gripping Shards, Frozen Device)

There are tanks out there who can explain this better than I can, but in the end you're gonna be neefing both types of skills

I haven't messed around with Warden class yet, but what I can tell you is that pretty much all stam tanks are DKs, specifically because of the earthen heart passive "helping hands"- "When you cast an Earthen Heart Ability, you restore 990 Stamina".

This means that they can keep block up basically all the time, and just spam igneous shield to get their stamina back.

Not to mention battle roar, which returns them resources when they use an ultimate.

So that's an explanation, but sadly I can't help with a solution, as I really don't know anything about warden tanking.

Like most who answered I don't have any experience on Warden tanks so hopefully my experience on my dk tank can transfer over.

The only magicka skills that I use on my dk are my main buff (hardened armor), my aoe cc (talons), my group buff/sustain skill (igneous), and my mob consolidator (chains). As for stamina, I use pierce armor, vigor, heroic slash, elude (I use tavas), inner beast, and absorb magic.

I use inner beast bc I spam the *** outta chains so I need to save my magicka. In your case you can use inner beast as your mob consolidator. You can also use unstoppable for your main buff and maybe circle of protection for your group buff.

These are all stamina variants that are kinda similar to their magicka counterparts. More importantly, these skills are available to every class. So you don't need to be a hybrid like most tanks. Alternatively, you can just use magicka gear/glyphs if you do wanna go the hybrid route.

Wardens can get stamina back from the netch but be careful when refreshing it, because it has a cast time and you drop block, similar to dark deal on sorc. They are actually a close 2nd to DK for tanking. You just have to use analogue skills. Of course, most of them are magicka. You don't really need a big magicka pool, but you do need lots of recovery to keep recasting them 1.5-2K should be just right.
