Stam sorc sets

Oh my stam sorc I am running 5 spriggans and have been grafting for automaton set as well, I've got the jewelry but after about 50+ attempts at the dungeon I've still got no sharpened weapons. I'm getting sick of doing it.

Are there any other sets that I can buy that will be good for a stam sorc, I don't want crafted sets cause I don't do crafting.

You can buy spriggans, the poor mans two fanged snake.

If youre trying to farm, get two fanged snake, vicious ophidian, kragh and or velidreth

@Mattoxx96 - do you want a 2H or Dual Wield Setup?

for Dual Wield- you can easily do- 5 Spriggan + 5 Hunding (craftable) and 2 pc Veli/ Kragh
    for 2H- 5 Spriggan+ 5 Hunding + 1vMA/ DSA 2H (you'd loose the monster set but it's still a solid setup.
if you are facing resource issues- 5Spriggan+ 5 VO + 2 Veli/ Kragh would work nice.

NMG beats Hunding and its buff group
also u need vMA to keep monster set
and at least I think if man can obtain vMA he dont need advices which gear is more profitable for him. So I guess it is bad idea to advice any vMA setups in this case.
My tests shows that DW still beats 2h in PvE cause half of ur dps is from Bow so the best idea is use CP to improve ur DoT damage and not direct (DW+Bow = dot dmg)

Yep but if you use spriggan and kragh you can reach overpenetration and NMG can be less effective then Hunding.

So you are essentially limiting yourself to sets you can buy? You could buy crafted sets, which most crafters would be willing to craft if you provide resources + tip. Some people put the more popular crafted sets on guild traders as well.

Other than that, Red Mountain or Defiler is probably your best bet to pair with Spriggans. The overland/BOE stamina sets leave a bit to be desired, IMO.

Velidreth is better cause of it proc mechanic
u cant overpenetrate with NMG cause bosses resistance is 18k
100% u wont overpenetrate it in dungeon and normal trial
and in vet trial its barely possible too. vice versa 1 man in raid must be in NMG

I don't do upgrading to gold quality, way too expensive. I think I'm just going to see if I can get into some trials, try and get VO or two fanged snake sets.

If your third set is spriggan 18.4k
If you use DW one or two maces overpenetrated even more
And that is without group alkosh or minor armour debuff
So for Kragh + Spriggan Hunding is better choise.

LOL I was actually trying forever to get a sharp weapon too but never got one.

That said, with the changes coming up I would go for 1 infused (dagger preferably) since it will help with the 5 piece bonus anyway then just get a precise spriggans dagger from the quest and a precise spriggans bow.

For armour fair enough but for weapons it's a big difference in DPS

Is that so. Still for gold mats it's about 100k for hardly any.

for pve dps youre prob looking best with TFS / NMG - bow/ DW - 1 sharp, 1 infused frontbar, back bar Maelstrom bow sharp.
Kragh's set or Veli depending on what you're fighting.

If another stam dps is running NMG, you can run something like Alkosh for group utility or VO for sustain.

for pvp you want proc sets since thats what everyone else is running ...
TFS or Sprigg with something like Viper, Red Mountain, Selenes, etc ...

By the time you need gold mats you should have 3x more than you need. They aren't exactly rare if you collect nodes.

So of course the day after the patch notes hit I pulled a sharpened automaton dagger out of a chest

In all honesty I think the best set for a stam sorc (or any build for that matter) depends on (among other things) how many champion points you have.

For example, I've noticed a lot of people say proc sets are bad for PVE, and it is better to focus on sets that increase raw stats. While this may be true for people that are at the champion point cap, I think a lot of newer players probably read those posts and decide the same must be true for them and end up going with something like hundings instead of something like viper.

Just for fun today I actually compared viper to automaton on a dummy (all other things kept equal). What I found was that until I spent about 400 champion points viper was actually better. In other words, the 1680 dps from viper is actually greater than the dps you get from the weapon damage increase from automation at lower levels. That said, I did notice that right around 400-450 automaton starts doing better and imagine it would do significantly better for PVE players at or near the level cap. But that said, I think proc sets can be valuable for newer players in PVE and am glad ZOS balanced them the way they did with the latest patch.

That's good to know... I am 630 CP, grats on the automaton sharpened though lol. I would start running some SO for vicious ophidia or two fanged snake sets but trials don't happen very often on PS4.
  • overclocker303b14_ESO
I'd say just stick it out with Automation if you don't want to look at crafted gear and don't do trials.

Red Mountain is probably the best overland choice but honestly the drop rates for those weapons aren't much better and since you are at max level I wouldn't recommend a proc set.

That said, you might also look into joining a guild that has some crafters in it...Hundings is honestly the closest thing to Automaton that I know of and does well with Spriggans and a good monster set...and most of the crafters in my guild will make it for mats. You can also usually pick up a set of hundings off guild traders (at least on PC) if you can't find anyone to make it.

Specifically in your case I'd go for:

2 velidreth (or kragh even though it is getting a bit of a nerf next patch)
    5 spriggans (w/ 3 jewelry)
    3 hundings armor
    2 hundings daggers
    and a VMA bow

This will give you the weapon damage bonus on the front bar. The vMA bow will pretty much make endless hail an 11k dot and there really isn't anything else like it, but if you don't want to grind vMA then what you can do is get a Spriggan 1h and a Spriggan bow and then 1 Hundings dagger so you have 5 Hundings on the front bar and 4 Hundings on the back.

I appreciate you point. It's just that spriggan jewelry costs a fortune, and the drop rates are terrible as well. But yeah I think I shall stick to automaton. I do have 2 automaton (non sharpened) weps, but when the next patch drops with the mundus and trait rebalancing it's going to be a lot better. I do have vMA bow as well. It only precise, but still works great.
