MagSorc Imperial City

I've never really gone into Imperial City but I heard the districts are some of the best places to get CP. Can anyone recommend a build that I can take down the mobs while still being able to deal with players? I am currently using Necro/Willpower/3pc Julianos with Inferno/Lightning.

That is a very good build you are running. I recommend you replace the willpower jewelry with 3 piece ancient grace which can easily be bought from guild stores. Since you do not have a monster set, apparently, I suggest you go ahead and craft 3p seducer instead of your 3p julianos, and also make sure you have as much impen as possible. Your final setup should look like this: 5p necro (body, as much impen as possible) 3p ancient grace jewelry and 3p seducer (2 body and 2 destros).

Now I assume you are already used to taking care of pets. The bar setup should look like this: (note that you can change the order as you please)

Bar 1 - pet 1 (scamp with stun morph), pet 2 (flying healing pet), crushing shock, frags, hardened ward.

Bar 2 - pet 1, pet 2 (need to have two bar slotted as you may know), power surge, daedric prey, and streak for mobility.

You use power surge and the healing pet to heal up if you take health damage. Always try to keep 1 shield up, if you take heavy damage you stack the other one. Damage rotation should be: curse -> bar swap -> activate damage scamp spam crushing shock with crystal frag procs -> repeat once curse ends. You should try and time the curse explosion with a frag.

Shield stacking on pet sorc is very important!!! If you don't shield stack correctly, your pets die. The class is very hard to play, but very rewarding.

Now if you want to know the BiS imperial city pet sorc build, it is: 5 necro, 5 imperial physique with 10k stones on you, master's destro. However, that build is very hard to get, and the other one mentioned is plenty fine.

@Berenhir one very very big shield

@PocketAces13xb oh, if you plan on going with the monster set, then my suggestion is either:

- infernal guardian, which provides free damage even when going on the defensive (also go to monster set for 1v1s on a pet sorc)
- Blobs on EU used/uses (idk) shadowrend, for a 3rd pet (petpocalypse!!!!)
- You could go with 1 growthdarr 1 infernal for a looot of max mag
- bloodspawn is also very viable, stamina sustain and ult gen.
- You could also cheese it and go with pirate skeleton

Back when I played my pet sorc right before morrowind, I used infernal guardian. It was great, imo. My suggestion for you is go with bloodspawn. It offers stam sustain, which is very much needed in open world, especially when you are learning the double pet sorc class, but also ult regen.

Also, pet sorc is a very very strong dueling build, and once mastered it becomes insanely powerful. When it comes to open world, it gets a bit harder.

If you do not like pets, however, another good build would be 2 bloodspawn (or 2 pirate skeleton but that's very cheesy) 5 amberplasm 3 willpower maelstrom fire destro with dot poison or cost redux (random staff works also if you don't have one) and random resto with wep dmg enchant.

That's a VERY strong open world build, but it lacks in 1v1 because it relies on dark deal to sustain. Bar setup would be:

Bar 1: frag, crushing shock, curse, mages wrath, streak, meteor ult or dawnbreaker (yep, dawnbreaker! Hits hard!)

Bar 2: dark exchange, hardened ward, healing ward, power surge, flex spot (mines, harness, streak here and magelight on front bar, or whatever else you pick!), resto ult

Sorc is a very fun class, it's just that the play style is a bit awkward to get the hang of ^^

BiS mag sorc for IC is 5 Imperial Physique 2 Bloodspawn 3 willpower VMA destro(cost increase poisons) masters resto.

Physique alone makes you unkillable 1v1, adding damage, survivability, and sustain. Bloodspawn increases uptime on resto ult, which is basically 5 seconds of invulnerability as well as 1pc Stam sustain, fueling dark conversion. Willpower+VMA gives you more damage than any other 4 pieces you could fill the open slots with

I would run Amber in place of physique then. There's no set that compares to amber on mag sorc, it's a damage set disguised as a sustain set. If I'm solo, without physique in IC, I'd run 5 amber 5 spinners 1 ilambris/groth.

I gave the pet build example to the op seeing how he was already using a necro pet build, so I thought he would like something similar ^^

Pet builds are too gimmicky in IC to be reliable IMO. They've got a low skill floor for duels, but as soon as it's 2v1 you're in a bind.

Imperial physique/ Bloodspawn/ willpower/ VMA destro
Curse, frag, fury, shock, inner light DBoS
Hardened, healing ward, conversion, streak, mines resto ult

OR
Amber/spinners/1 max mag

Ele drain, Inner light, frag, shock, fury DBoS
Curse, shield, shield, conversion, streak overload
Mines, surge, boundless, shield, e-purge

The physique setup is stronger and we're using resto ult and our high health and Stam pools to augment our shields here.

The amber setup is what I run open world, insane burst and sustain. You'll rely on that Stam pool and mobility to augment shields.

The biggest thing with sorc shields is they scale poorly in outnumbered situations, in these cases you use your Stam pool, your own pressure, positioning, and CC to protect your shields in these cases. You want to build for enough magika and Stam sustain then work from there. The nature of sorc is such that you're gonna put out good burst without spec'ing tons of damage.

@Lexxypwns wouldn't it be too much penetration with spinners, 5 light, sharpened weapons and else drain? Imo I would drop ele drain, put curse on front bar (for more damage because back bar trait carries over to first curse explosion apparently) and put inner light on backbar for bigger shields. That's IMO though.

Also interesting that you ditch mister sets for another 5p set, sounds pretty good actually...

~18k pen, most medium builds have at least that much armor. The extra damage from drain+inner light is more than the damage difference from curse. You COULD use alchemist, bsw, or julianos there though

The sustain from ele drain is great as well. It's certainly not the meta, but it packs tons of damage.

If you're running resto ult, run Bloodspawn. If not you can play around
