When I'm playing on some of my vampire toons it'd be nice to have NPC vamps acknowledge my vampirism.

I know there's a plethora of issues and game breaking stuff* and people are gonna say "you want this but you don't want (insert issue) fixed".

I dunno. I feel like some minor dialogue changes for vampire or even werewolf characters would be a nice immersion booster.

Rivenspire has a whole quest line based on vampires and not 1 person mentions that they know.

Rianne the mystic in the Tal'Deic Fortress Mages Guild she talks about her illness. The player can say "I understand" but you get the same response if you're afflicted or not.

The vampire quest in coldharbour has the lady pleading that you don't kill her children. But she doesn't try to guilt trip you or anything by saying that the player is one of them etc.

I dunno...it seems weird that you can encounter friendly NPC vampires and not one acknowledges it.

I'm not sure how many times you interact with werewolves but a similar change to some quest or general NPC dialogue would be great too.

As a further immersion booster...bandits etc. Call the player things like "mangy cat" if they're a khajiit. Similar insults or threats for vampires and werewolves would be a nice touch though less so than actual quest or general NPC dialogue.

* while there are some issues I think a lot of these are exaggerated. I'm just using this as an example of the general forum response to people who ask for the small stuff to improve our gaming experience.

TL;DR: NPC vampires acknowledging players vampirism in dialogue.

Thanks for reading ☺

Rule #1 of Fight Club: you do not talk about Fight Club.

I am not a werewolf and I don't know what you're talking about. Lycanthrowhat? Nothing more than peasant folklore meant to scare little children. A person cannot turn into a wolf. That is simply preposterous.

There is a vampire in the Morrowind expansion that will actually recognize you as such. But yes, from launch people have complained about this. ZOS... has never responded.

@MornaBaine can you tell me where to find them? It's something I'd live to see more of.

Oh my gosh... I wish I could remember! I think it was a delve. Have only run across him once so far and can't even remember his name tho I am pretty sure he was in the original Morrowind. I'll try to find out for you though.

There is also one vampire hunter...I think in one of the DLCs... that recognizes you as a vampire as well.

Wait... don't you guys (vampires) have a repeatable quest thing? Werewolves get a repeatable quest from an NPC in their capital city (at least in DC, I assume it works the same in other alliances)... the NPC recognizes you as what you are. Do vampires not get the same thing?

I don't think vamps get a repeatable quest? If they do I've never done it.

Perhaps all vampires have a deep hatred for any vampire that isn't a part of their immediate "clan". So when one encounters another they both avoid the topic. At some point in the future these disputes turn into full on vampire war. After many years of fighting the populations decrease so much they all end up retreating with their clans in small sanctuaries, like caves or keeps, and they become very reclusive. It would explain why in TES III - IV all the vampires stay in caves, catacombs, or keeps and you rarely see one out without their clan. In that case, you may never get more than a few to acknowledge you!

Whilst it makes a lot of sense lore wise and I appreciate the thought process it still feels like a cheap counter to the lack of recognition. Even from lone vampires like the one in the Tale'Deic mages guild who's keeping it a vague secret.

I guess we won't get much more than maybe minor acknowledgement from NPCs in future DLC.

What is this repeatable quest for Werewolves, I've never heard of it before.
