Is training trait worth if you level a new toon just by doing quests?

Made a new toon because enlightenment is zero and don't want to level CP without it. I've had enough of dolmens, so I chose to level this one just by doing quests. Was wondering if training trait still would be better than for example divines. Yes you do get more exp per kill, but with other traits you kill stuff faster, thus completing quests faster.

And didn't they lower the amount of exp you get from kills but raise the amount you get from completing quests some patches ago?

Well, quest mobs are super weak, so you dont need minmaxed gear to fight them.
And yes, they buffed quest exp, but even then, a buff is a buff and I'd go for training set with sharpened or precise weapons.

I usually craft epic training gear on all pieces for level 4, 18 and 36 for a new toon. Without any XP boosts that brings you to 50 just doing the main quest and the mages and fighters guild quest lines and roughly 2 zones.

Thank you for the answers. Time to craft some blue gear with training armor and sharpened weapons, then. I usually craft them at 10, 20, 30 and 40.

Yes. That's exactly how I level... I crafted sets of training gear at 10/20/30/40 that all my toons wear then pass down. Protip: craft a mix of heavy/medium/light armor... by the time you hit level 50 you should be close to max in all armor lines (good if you plan to wear a 5-1-1).

As LadyNalcarya points out, you don't miss the perks of having BiS traits. You'll be miles ahead just having a completed set; my first character was lucky to be wearing 3 pieces of a set by the time he hit 50.

Also, I highly recommend collecting your skyshards and lore books while at low-level... you'll get a fair amount of exp just discovering new areas (you might get to 20 or 30 just doing this, especially if you complete the delves and public dungeons). Being max level doesn't make lorebooks and skyshards any faster.

I'm now at level 10 and about to start hunting all the skyshards from non-dlc areas. After that I go back doing quests.

Btw, do any of you farm training -set jewelry from starting areas? I don't know why, but I always do that same time I craft new equipment.

I never bother with gear below lvl 50, i just equip what i find, only thing i care for is having atleast one light, medium and heavy piece, so the armorlines level up.
When mobs feel like they take to long to die, and i didnt drop a good weapon in a while, i sometimes craft a purple sharpened pointy stick of currentlevel w/o setbonus. (Intresting thing i noticed: on a lvl 38, a purp lvl 38 stick gives 1335 weapon-/spelldmg, same number as a golden cp 160 has)

Even without any xp-boost, i feel like im leveling up so fast, that i'd need to craft a new set every day, and it would become obsolete the moment i finished farming for jewelery.

I do have max cp, that might be helpfull, otoh, with my lowbies, the lower they r, the less gear i have, the easier it feels to solo worldbosses (most easy time so far: lvl 6 with 3 empty slots vs soulfire plateau). It feels a lot harder on my maxed out chars.

I never leveled by grinding, all i ever did on all my toons was doing quests. Recently i made a list of zones to avaoid cause they might drop intresting gear on wrong levels xD

If u decide to craft gear for lowies, go for training on armor, sharpened (until next patch) on weapons. U will have 6,3% less critical rating compared to divines, (at base 50% crit dmg, thats a 3,15% dps loss) not having inner light/evil hunter "hurts" more. (Not to mention how many times i forgot to pick a mundus stone for a long time w/o noticing xD)

Lotsa feelings an no hard data: this is awesome post xD

70% of very little is even less than very little. You don't kill all that much when questing and most of what you do kill is low level.

I have never used training gear, but then I have several master crafter's. One toon I made 160 just running around zones doing all the dungeons and skyshards. And, it seems the levels go so quickly it never seemed necessary to have anything more than blue sets of anything, including weapons. Since 1T, respectfully, the content is way easy and any toon burns through it.

Every mob in this game is level CP160. Keep in mind, it is the player who gets scaled up, NPCs don't get scaled down.

Depends how much of your XP comes from quests vs whatever you are killing along the way, but even if it takes you 10 days to earn 2.8m XP (total to reach level 50) doing quests and some dungeons, you will likely reach it a few days sooner with training gear, xp pots etc.

Investing in gear whose only benefit comes when you are killing stuff when you're spending most of your time not killing stuff is a waste. If the OP wants to get value out of training gear he should hit a PD for a few hours.
