Hello,
I am writing an idea for Vet Maelstrom I have had for about 2 years now but was never signed up on forums until recently. Keep in mind I am not someone that is whining that we need a token system because they can't get the item they want. I've been completing VMA since the first weeks it came out and used to be opposed to the idea of a token system seeing how it took me close to 500 runs for my first Maelstrom Sharpened Inferno and we used to have to run it only to get a Ring of the Hunt as your final reward three times in a row until getting a Maelstrom Defending Sword from there.
That being said with these new changes proposed to weapon traits in "The Horns of Reach" on the patch notes that were just posted
Sharpened - 5160 Penetration reduced to 2752 Penetration
Precise - 7% crit increased to 9% crit
Thief Mundus Stone - 11% crit reduced to 9% crit
Lover Mundus Stone - Changed to 2752 Penetration
With those changes coming there possibly may be a meta shift from Sharpened to Precise weapons and a change away from the Thief Mundus. Which is going to create one heck of an unhappy fan base if the meta does shift and they have to regrind weapons.
Thus my idea for the "Maelstrom Arena Museum" comes into play. It would be a token system but the way it would work might be interesting enough to at least warrant some consideration or discussion.
Upon entering Maelstrom there are buildings on the left and right of the main entrance, that currently have no use and sit there. How about if they were to add vendors in each building with museum weapon cases in them that are empty at the start. By doing runs you would collect items and be able to interact with the corresponding weapon display afterward. After installing the first item of any trait for example a Defending Inferno Staff it would add the item to the display case and remove the item from your inventory.
After placing the item in the Museum case the next time you get a VMA Inferno Staff for example you can take it to the same case and it would give you an option to "Insert 1 VMA Inferno Staff to reroll trait from 8 possible traits" I know I know RNG is fun right? However there is a good side to it and you know ZOS loves RNG so this keeps it fun for them and lengthy experience that will make you still need to run VMA.
When giving the weapon to the museum the number would have the ability to input 1 to 4 possible of the specific weapon type.
Putting in 1 specific weapon type would allow you to reroll weapons traits from 1 of 8 chosen traits.
Putting in 2 specific weapon types would allow you to reroll weapons traits from 1 of 6 chosen traits.
Putting in 3 specific weapon types would allow you to reroll weapons traits from 1 of 4 chosen traits.
Putting in 4 specific weapon types would allow you to reroll weapons traits from 1 of 2 chosen traits. (I know I know 4 weapon reroll would be diablical if you got the wrong trait of the 2 trait choices but hey your not going to use any of these off trait weapons anyways so it's better than what we have and still the RNG to make ZOS happy.
Anyways if you made it this far I salute you and thanks for reading let me know what you think. I think this would be a way to implement a form of token system that they could make work as far as a lore standpoint while also adding achievements and maybe a color dye for finishing Museum. It would give you at least some form of hope in your mind when receiving a off trait weapon, and if you have saved up off trait weapons like I have it could make your life easier if you need something specific. All in all I feel it would make VMA grinding much less of a grueling experience for those that don't have the weapons they want yet and have not been blessed by the gods of the RNG
