Game unplayable

magma.co.ukub17_ESO
Hey.
So I just finished installing the game about 2 hours ago, and along with having several issues even getting past the login screen, I am now faced with a game breaking issue.

At the very first maybe 25 - 30 seconds of me logging in I am able to interact with things fine such as the crown store etc, (NPC's and stuff do not load in quick enough for me to interact) and after this time, chat messages are extremely delayed and I am unable to interact with absolutely anything around me. And then about 45 seconds after this problem occurs, I am disconnected with no error message.

I have a GTX 960 with an AMD A10 Processor.

Not sure what the issue is here?

Try to load the game and find out, the server was playing up today so for you it just might've been bad timing...if problem still exists then come back here and post specs etc to try find help...otherwise play and have fun.

Posted specs in OP, using a wired connection and an A10 7850K or something like that specifically.

Also get 1.5mbps down and 0.4 up

THat looks like latency lag rather than graphics lag - can you bring up your ping to server? It's an option in your Settings menu (can't remember category it's under).

Yep well, start checking everything your end including your ISP routing to server, seems some people have really rubbish routing to server atm. Not everyone is getting affected by the server ping spikes.

Just had that discussion the other day, where other people said everyone would know Betheny was a female's name and I said most people assume everyone's a guy no matter what...I was right.

You aren't the only one with awful routing to the game if that ends up being the issue. It could very well be your ISP, but it's also likely that you're in the same boat as a lot of the rest of us -- running through Cogent's infrastructure into AT&T's to get to the ESO servers. In my case, for example, the last hop before getting into the servers has wild latency swings every second or so.

can this issue be easily fixed?

No. If it is an infrastructure problem with Cogent, AT&T, or both, they would have to be the ones to fix it. This is entirely my own potentially uninformed opinion, but that usually entails external pressure from folks with enough clout to force the issue. I somehow doubt that Zenimax falls into that category, which leaves me with some doubts as to whether it will ever be fixed.

Yes what can you do when you might be disconnected at any time or lag out and die.

You could go to your ISP with a trace route (especially if the problem is closer to their end than ZOS's end), or you could use a VPN to bypass the problem area.

Personally, I've tried every VPN host that VyprVPN has, but everything runs through that last hop with AT&T -- so there's no escaping it. Perhaps others may have better luck, though.

You'd likely have better luck defecating cotton candy than getting your ISP to even respond to a request to manage a route, let alone actually do it. Given the options, though, it certainly couldn't hurt to try. With Suddenlink, I haven't even been able to get anyone who knows what a route is.

no hope using a vpn :/
no hope for me I guess, this game used to work.

The only thing I can think of is that I have changed a lot of my registry settings, regedit, to improve my latency and connection to other games.

    maybe?

It's almost certainly the Cogent and AT&T lines between you and the Zenimax servers. If that's the case, there's literally nothing you can do about it. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure there's nothing Zenimax can do about it, either, unless they move the servers or create new/better ones. There's zero chance that that is going to happen, so it probably means you're never going to be able to play ESO again. A lot of us are in the same boat, and it sucks.

If Zenimax can somehow do something about the routing (ie, they have enough clout to force a better path), then maybe eventually. My optimism is completely gone, though.

no refund either? I'm unable to play the game & I can play every other game, and I also meet minimum requirements.

surely a refund would be considered? not that I really care but the fact I spend around 24 hours installing the game and paying for it, & it doesn't even work sucks.

I wouldn't bother. It wouldn't be worth the inevitable hassle. Besides, maybe they can eventually fix it one day. At some point, AT&T and Cogent's hamsters will die and have to be replaced by new ones just by sheer attrition...

Where did you get the info about changing those settings? Do you have the default values of the ones you changed, and know which entries were entirely added to your registry?

If so try changing them back to default and see how that goes.
