Can we buff Mudcrabs?

The very first Elder Scrolls game I ever played was Morrowind. I stepped foot into Seyda Neen, ventured into the swamp and immediately got rekt by a mudcrab. So I bought some gear from the merchant in town and attempted to fight this mighty creature again. It was a fierce battle, both of us growing weary from the, what seemed like, never-ending fight to the death.
Finally I had triumphed. For several minutes I stood over my fearless opponent, lying there lifeless before collecting the spoils of my kill, some crab meat and 1 gold.
I will never forget this moment.

Then came Oblivion. These guys seemed even tougher, but the fight was slightly shorter due to my attacks not missing as much as they did in Morrowind.

Imagine my disappointment when coming up against my first mudcrab in Elder Scrolls Online. Not only are they much smaller, but they are incredibly weak. I almost pity the poor critters. They're so pathetic they won't even fight you unless you attack them. In previous games they would take crap from nobody. If you ventured into their territory then only one of you would walk out of there alive. You had no say in the matter.

I implore you to buff mudcrabs. Increase their size to scale as they did in previous Elder Scrolls games, make them hostile, and a lot tougher than they currently are. Basically you should have to think twice before messing with a mudcrab, not walk over them like it's nothing.
Like, burrowing under the ground? Really? That's not their style. They're killers. Barbarians. Set them free ZOS, please.

Thank you.

    I missed you.

Also, hmmm... Weren't the mudcrabs pretty scary back in the day? I levelled too slowly to ever experience the scariest days of Caldwell's silver and gold... But I heard the mudcrabs were quite feisty back then.

Also my first death in Skyrim was to a mudcrab...

    Missed you too Bizz <3

I don't really know tbh. I've never had a problem with them in ESO, especially compared to other games. Mudcrabs were always kind of known for being badasses, so it's not something you really forget. But in ESO they feel more like aesthetics, or part of the scenery than anything you should fear.

I'm sure you put up one hell of a fight. I haven't played much of Skyrim so I have no idea how tough they are there!

I agree. Every one should be like Clatterclaw and spawn lots of adds too.

Orrrr if you kill one of the normal mudcrabs, a big Clatterclaw "mummy" mudcrab spawns to protect her offspring.

Lmao. I mean, just look at his confidence as he approaches the player. Meanwhile ESO mudcrabs are burrowing under ground trying to escape. It's not right.

Hah, maybe not THAT strong, but I'm not opposed to new mechanics considering this is an mmo. Maybe instead of hiding underground they create a shockwave across the ground that damages and knocks the player over. Now we're talking.

Exactly! Keeping in line with TES lore it should be that way in ESO too.

Remember fighting one in Morrowind, the crabs back then was much larger, think ESO crabs are the smallest.
In Oblivion they was pretty weak, yes they was weak in Morrowind too but you was very weak then starting, much weaker than in later games.
Skyrim had some pretty aggressive ones.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Doesn't anybody remember how brutal mudcrabs were in Silver and Gold zones before the nerf to overland mobs?

I remember seeing poor new players foolishly deciding to take on a mud crab (or 3) back in the day and paying the ultimate price...

Yes, was the first thing I saw then coming to Wulkart guard
Player probably used AoE got an pack after him and tried to run away.

The beach trolls will throw mudcrabs at you if you dodge they will attack the troll,
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Ahh, the good ol' days. I remember the first day I played and attacked two mudcrabs. Just to get used to using my weapons. Just because I wanted to know what loot is there to get. They were too tough. I ran but they chased me down. I died. It was hilarious. Sometimes I miss those days.

Next to ESO, I've only played Skyrim. Mudcraps* were always free xp. If they're gonna do this, they might as well nerf Slaughterfish. They never killed me in Skyrim and now they're soo overpowered that they don't even have a healthbar or hitbox.

    *pun intended

Lmao this is what I mean. There is something insanely hilarious and memorable about getting owned by a crab

As long as the mudcrabs drop their Polished Shell Shards. It's been 2 years and I still haven't found one in my crab massacre.

Same here actually. Honestly, if they buff mudcrabs they should increase drop rates

My first mud crab death in TESIII was near the tax collector's corpse.

I have been farming the groups of 3 mudcrabs (as Guild-farmers take everything else). You get a decent drop of mats from the 3 usually. They do level up and I've been nailed a couple of times by them. I never see anyone else doing this.

Have had the polished shell thing 2 or 3 times now.

I got suspenders for saying "Testicular Mass" instead of "Balls". like, rilly.

    This.

Correct question: "Could we buff mudcrabs so that they drop their trophies more often?"

My main char has hundreds of hours played time, but still lacks the mudcrab trophy (and I kill them whenever I encounter them).

On the other Hand imho mud crabs are strong enough.
