I actually like having the 3 seconds to "adjust" my targeting with it. Since it's a straight line, ground targeting would be useless...and an unessesary keypress.

On my stamward I find the most unpleasant part of the class for PVE is the damage rotation. Having to recast sub assualt every 3 seconds gives little room to do about anything and the rotation just feels like playing a squirrel on too much coffee. The rotation becomes increasingly easy to mess up as well which makes the damage drop severely. Meanwhile I can pull 40k plus parses easily on my MagSorc and stamNB, which in turns makes me wonder why would I play my stamward for endgame over either of those classes. My answer Warden gets played for 3 mins a day for riding training, and once a week for a Maelstrom leaderboard spot for weekly until they make the class function better.
One other idea I just came up with while writing this, what about making Subterranean Assualt work like Crystal Frags and have a chance at an instant proc off of abilities used. Just an idea

I actually use Shrouded daggers (that bounce = 3 dead mobs.....), Surprise attack, ambush, Leeching strikes (light attack heal anyone?) and camo hunter (passive only) on my DW bar.

I dont know about that idea you would have to focus on ground to see if it instant procd and also you would have to cast it again RIGHT AFTER it insta procs so i wouldnt want that at all.
My suggestion is easy and simple and makes the ability better without touching damage numbers

So when you say "as good as stam sorcs" I kinda cringe a bit because its more like "as good as stam sorcs and templars". Just because Templar was lowest DPS during the horrible Rapid Strikes meta, doesn't mean its still crap (its actually quite the opposite). Just sayin'.
