I need a major explanation

Okay so I am cp 406 mag sorc and I am running alteration mastery and shackle breaker in battlegrounds and I know it is no cp but why am I being one shoted by other sorcs and other pvpers in general they are all cp 630 but isn't there no cp I'm so confused Ik what I'm doing but can someone please explain to me how sorcs are one shotting me and 3 shotting when I have shields my set is all done I got the enchantments and spell damage and everything but it's not succeeding. YouTuber are running the exact thing I am but are Hitting hard does cp rank have something to do with this? Thank you

Probably need some information on your build starting with max health and maybe what is in your death recap to see what is killing you.

well it could be that you shield urself at or below 20% health which with curse + execute is too much burst which u cannot calculate.. i dunno or could be ...the new cheese

CP has nothing to do with it. It will just be skills, buffs, passives and the player

First we have to be honest before we can get to an explanation. Some of these questions may read as insulting, that isnt the intent.

Do you understand tool tips? Meaning if someone launches an empowered frag at you, do you understand that its more powerful than a non empowered frag? Do you understand the mitigation difference between between the armor's and specifically the difference in defensive values between hard and light armors?

You see the answer cant be complex. There are only a few possible ways that someone can output more damage than you if you are running a similar build. Now those few possible ways do require some nuance and or experience playing but frankly the range of damages should not be vast. These simplistic questions are derived primarily from your post. Meaning you asked if there would be any impact difference between a 406 CP player and a 630 CP player in a non cp campaign. This suggests that you dont understand completely all the nuances of pvp play.

Again Im not trying to be insulting but cp isnt a factor in a non cp game. As a pvp magi sorc, when in doubt, put up a shield. When certain, put up a shield, when lagging put up a shield, when scratching your ass put up a shield. If you do that you'll understand QUICKLY that good Magi sorc play is predicated on timing offensive output with your shields. The nuance is, timing bursts (curse, frag, fury).

Despite its portrayl on the forums as this face rolling glass cannon, magi sorc requires a lot of practice to get the timing down. The builds are straight forward, so are the skills you should slot. I hope this helped, hang in there and dont give up.

They most likely have spent 200-2000 hours in pvp and know how to stun then Burst you at the perfect time.

Having decent gear is only the first step, go duel people around your CP and see how you do.

Without info on your build and defense choices, impossible to say but one shot implies a combo vs weaker health levels.

your sets are more offense and sustain but not very defensive - so i would start at looking to what defensive options you can add. get to surviving 30s 1v1 and then adjust as needed once you have a basis to go on.

Are you on PC? If you are, and you're serious about getting good at BGs, PM me or add me in game @thogard and I'll show you some things. I'm brand new to the sorc class but it's pretty easy and I routinely go 20-1 in death match... not because I'm good but because sorc is OP against groups that aren't premade.

I play enough to have been ranked in BGs each week since release and I have yet to see an obvious cheater...

When people die to someone else in pvp obviously it is cheating.

Periods.. Thats the main reason you dont do well in Battlegrounds. You dont seem to follow the rules of the builds or grammar, even tho you think you have the meta setup..
