WTB Weapon Grindstone

ZOS should just let you purchase a weapon grinder that will remove any trait from a weapon and make it sharpened. The grind is too much right now. I think this is at least in part because some of the named set items (take the precise sunderflame bow, for example) used to be good, but then stuff like the crit nerf happened and it pretty much made precise weapons useless (but nobody got around to updating the trait on the bow). Long story short, I think the drop rate for sharpened weapons is horrible, and the grind for them makes the game less enjoyable for people.

To fix this issue, I propose a weapon grinder that you can either get via crafting mats just like any other furniture, or even just buy from the crown store. Once you have one, just stop by your house and visit the grindstone (just like every other ES game) and put a weapon on it to get rid of that outstanding training, prosperous, etc. trait you just got trolled with, and make it a sharpened weapon.

NO! I already wasted thousands of hours of my life for my sharpened vMA staff and the rest of the world should suffer like I had to

Fun-fact: Monster Hunter World is coming to PC. :p
(In other ES games you actually generally had to deal with what you found to degrees, Skyrim is the only one where you can actually blacksmith in such a manner)

ZOS isn't going to see this as an 'issue'. It's one of the few things that actually has people grinding. They're going to have to seriously re-tool DD stats if they want to balance traits. As-is, every single DD build in this game is a high critchance-critmodifier-penetration-basedamage-resource build. Look at the decision making when it comes to theorycrafting, you basically go stat to stat after ensuring you have enough to practically max its effectiveness. Don't need anymore crit because you'll get X from buffs, don't need anymore penetration because X from buffs/debuffs...

Traits will remain absolutely screwed until there's more differentiation between the stats that DD builds can focus.

I actually like the OP's concept but the realist in me is forced to admit you're most likely correct here.

Sadly I suspect your right and the gear grind is intentional as it keeps some people playing.

On another note, the grind is also one of the reasons I stopped playing for a long time (I was in beta but quit for a couple of years after hitting level 50). I have been back for almost 6 months now and enjoying it more than I did back then, but still feel like it is too much sometimes and would rather see them keep people interested by releasing new content rather than relying on the whole carrot on a stick routine.

I mainly run dungeons and trials and find the weapon grind to be particularly bad.

I'm also a little over halfway through vMA and it can be frustrating at times...I can only imagine the frustration of finally finishing it, only to get something completely useless...and then going back and doing it a dozen times and still ending up with nothing. If anything I'd at least like to see a weapon grinder in vMA rather than make the gear in there BOE, which others have proposed.

Does not fix the underlying issue with the Trait Imbalance
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The problem with this idea is you seem to think sharpened will ALWAYS be the end all and be all of traits. I doubt very much that this is true. I do actually support trait changing, but do NOT believe in the removal of any traits from the trait list, regardless of how unused they are, this would support future changes to existing traits.

Lets take training as a perfect example as a useless trait for a max CP person currently: Lets say in the future they choose to open up class skill lines from other classes to all classes... IE: a DK can learn Sorc skills like streak...BUT it takes 100 times the experience it takes a Sorc to learn those same skills and the skill costs a non-sorc 10% more to use. All of a sudden, training would become one of the best traits literally overnight

Thats just one example, things can be done to make the less used traits infinitely more desirable, whether its a direct buff or like the above example, an indirect buff. As it stands right now though sharpened IS the problem with the whole trait system...no one wants to use anything else because sharpened is clearly better. For me the worst part is this...I wouldn't mind using other traits at all...I just dont want to waste gold mats on a weapon unless its the best I can get...if they changed it so you could actually get ALL your mats back out of an improved weapon, destroying the weapon itself in the process I think you would see a lot more people using different traits, at least until they got sharpened. All of a sudden it wouldn't be a crime to improve an infused vMA staff to gold and in some fights might actually be preferable to sharpened, depending on enchant.
