Do you have fun with pvp in cyrodiil?

Not at all, and it's a real bummer. Pvp is usually one of my favorite aspects of any game especially MMO games. Too many issues for me to enjoy this games pvp, but I do thoroughly enjoy everything else

I still don't understand the concept of "zergs" when Cyrodil is supposed to be army vs. army....so isn't a zerg actually functioning as intended?

The game's inability to handle said zergs aside, I have always been confused by the complaints in AvAvA

Reasonable zerging complaints are when a seemingly unnecessary amount of players run over a disproportionately small objective. So like if 3 raids of AD respond to Faregyl turning blue and being claimed by VE and the guild then stands on the wall in a /kissthis loop... that's maybe overkill but not entirely unjustified. But if the lumber mill at Kingscrest gets flipped by two people and Pact sends a guild raid to reclaim it, that's about as cut and dry zerging as you can get.

There's also this interesting dynamic where everyone wants to pretend that they lost because the enemy had more people. We had a classic example a few days ago. VE actually only had I think 15 people in group at Sej with Ash/Ales being the closest blue keep, EP had conservatively twice that number, constant rezzes and bombs etc. We finally wipe them and we have a red whisper us to mock us for stooping to bring "40 blue to wipe out 15 reds" or whatever the hell it was.

There seems to be an interesting effect where people can only see players in enemy factions but can't see the teammates standing next to them. We call this phenomenon, "zerg goggles"

To answer the poll, yes pvp is pretty fun if you join a decent guild and run with them. The camaraderie and assistance from grouping consistently with the same decent players is a huge part of what makes pvp enjoyable. By playing with the same people, you get a feel for what they can do and you can feel a lot more confident in your play as well. How I play with randoms around, vs guildies is totally different. Guildies will hold ground and support each other... while randoms will abandon you to the hordes the instant they lose any momentum. AKA pugs run away while guilds fight.

If you don't like giant "zerg guilds" you can try some of the smaller guilds. Usually, they can't reasonably take a large objective on the map, but they can kill pugs at a resource all day long.

Personally I think PvP in this game is poop. I can think of so many other games I would rather play if I wanted to pvp. Unfortunately I have to pvp to get Magicka Detonation so I have to force myself to pretend to enjoy this cesspool so I can get the skills I want. Oh and then there is the skyshards I'm missing in Cyrodiil *face palm*

Overall yes. I look for the types of fights that I enjoy the most but more importantly I don't get bent out of shape when I end up in a fight that is less fun for me. One of the core feature of Cyrodiil for me is that virtually anything can happen at any time from 1v1, to small group, to large group, to 3 way fights, to people adding in etc. That's what makes Cyrodiil fun for me vs something like battle grounds that are basically one dimensional.

On the negative side, ongoing issues such as ques and lag are taking a toll on cyrodiil being fun. We can argue for and against all sorts of design issues such as proc sets etc. but performance and ques are harmful to all

I only play this game because it offers PvP, and for years I played in Cyro and enjoined it, with many frustrations as well.

But now I'm all BGs baby and loving it. Constant, small scale battles for the win!

I didn`t even go there, and i`m not planning to until nothing to explore will be left in the world. And only for those " PVE " aspects of Cyro.
I don`t like mindless slaughterhouses, I prefer PvP with a goal, profit. Like take away farming spot, gang enemy guild, steal other player cargo and etc. Just running around killing each other without any good reason is meh.

Good thing that isn't what AvAvA is at all.

    Yes!

Lag : It sucks but it's an online game with servers half a world away so I roll with it.
zergs : can't beat ém, join ém !
proc sets : my stamblade wears viper | eternal hunt | selene... so... that happened. :D

Cyrodiil offers such a wide variety of gameplay! Smashing keeps with a zerg, soloing imperial sewers, small scale resource / town fights, cutting off enemy transit lines, emp zerging, scroll runs, scrollmens, district domination... it just goes on & on! The gameplay is always dynamic & fluid (as long as the lag monster isn't present!) & that keeps me interested.

I still love PvP. It takes up 80% of my in-game time. I have a decent rig and decent connections and I'm convinced that improivements are being made all the time.

Sure, I DO rant from time to time , but mainly because I'm old and dislike change lol. I'd like there to be a few changes made to PvP (such as being logged into a single alliance during an entire campaign) and I'd like the exploits to be addressed and stopped.

But other than that, I still love it.

it is not funn at all, if you want to do quests wich is not includes taking objectives like take control over a fort, Also imp city is is a disaster for pve oriented questers, because most of the quests are there are pure pve content in the imp city for *** sake.

Cyrodiil has it's good and bad days, sometimes I am in the mood for it and others I am not.
My experiences in IC have been pretty horrible so I don't like above ground IC very much but the sewers aren't so bad.

I have found that the non PVP quests in Cyrodiil can mostly be done without getting involved in the PVP action. Sure you will find the occasional ganker that wants to kill anything that moves but it's not really that big an issue.

And I think that is why 'casuals' or part time PVP'ers will never really enjoy a lot of PVP. Unless you make the effort to 'git gud' at PVP, you will only ever be mediocre at best.

The day I accepted that I was going to die a lot in PVP and realized that it doesn't matter if I die, was the day I stopped hating it.

I'm a big fan. I usually start my day by making a pair of homespun gloves. After I make a pair of homespun gloves, I'll usually make another pair of homespun gloves. Once I'm done with the second pair of homespun gloves, I like to to to Cyrodiil, where I can wear my new pair of homespun gloves. They keep my hands warm at night. Once I've worn my new pair of homespun gloves in Cyrodiil for a while, I will go back to town and make a new pair of homespun gloves. Sometimes, simple is better.

What trait and style are on the gloves?

I use to but its gotten to point where I just dont anymore.. the lag and the zergs that seems to like to play in it have all become to much. I get much more enjoyment out of BGs but the ap gain is not even close. All in all I've been pvping less since morrowind and I had planned to pvp much more.

At this point I think alot of the PVP seige warfare fans (DAOC, Warhammer, ect) are just hanging in here while we wait for Camelot Unchained to be finished. ESo and the 4 open class build system for the most part just creates OP abilities, and a 1 main build for each class where you basically get to be a tank / dps/ and healer in 1. So why the 4 classes have alot of builds you really only see 1 in Cyrodiil, the strongest, maybe some randon secondary builds for the role player.
I am really looking forward to CU with its 30 defined classes and class pride coming back. Your not going to see a class being an uber DPS and healer in 1. or a tank that can use a crazy mage ultimate (eye)
Actual Crafter classes that makes makes all the gear in the game and builds all the stuctures and seige weapons is a cool concept too.

Also the biggest problem in ESO is the engine was made for a single player game so it lags in seige warfare battles. CU made its own engine just for massiv keep seige warfare battles.

There needs to be exclamation marks following the "No". Maybe about 10 or so at least?

PvP is a constant laggy slaughter fest, and when I say slaughter fest, I mean being slaughtered by the near invincible Destro Ult groups that set up farms in Resource Towers or little bottleneck corners between boulders or on the Bridges. They make mounting any kind of defense Hell and an offense is just swatted back like we're bugs against a zapper when they all pile up into a group and then a dozen MagSorcs and Templars cast their Eye of Flames.

And yet PvP is the only thing left you can do other than aimlessly wandering around the Overworld fighting Wolves.
Ran with a 12-man group yesterday. Had a blast, ran into a little bit of lag, but outside of that we totally crashed in on some parties up at Chalman mine.

As a dynamic game style by nature, there is a reason cyrodiil has stood the test of time and undergone little to no change in over 3 years. Its well designed regardless of what people say. ITS NOT PERFECT BY ANY MEANS but it is so well designed from a gameplay aspect that there are entire guilds dedicated to it, there is a tremendous community and subculture built around it and there are players who level 1-cp630 in pvp exclusively. All the major streamers made fortunes off of it and it is still a portion of the game that commands wonder, awe, and envy.

Legends are born in cyrodiil. Names like Zazeer, Qaevir, Murder Thumbs, DK Daniel, Dubzug, Benzy boy, Sypher, Kodi, etc etc are spoken with love or infamy or both to this day. Legends are born. Period. No other aspect of the game creates LEGENDS like that.

I pve'd for the majority of my eso career. Largely because its what my guild needed me to be. But over the last three years ive experienced all there is with pvp. Casual, competitve, guild vs guild tournament, being crowned emperor, IC, ive led pugs, newcomers, and a competitive team. Dueling battlegrounds, and never once have i ever thought about quitting pvp. Eso is a magical game. It has no rival on the market and a large part of that is due to the very pvp we log into day after day.

    Mic drop.

I agree with most of what you say. But as for the "legends", yeah, I think some are / were great for the game. But a couple were banned for "questionable" play. Perhaps one is known less for great play as for being an arse. And there are few who are actually respected, good players that don't appear in that list (but I'm sure they are included in your etc etc)

But yeah, a legend doesn't necessarily have to be a respectable player.

Compared to PvE, it's so much less stressful. If you die, whatever. If you goof up, whatever. People aren't going to be jerks to you because you don't kill enough enemies or do certain things. Like 95% of the players are chill and want to have fun. As much as I love to do PvE and some of the people in that community, PvP and its community just isn't nearly as toxic and booty-retentive.
