Crown Crates regulation question

I have a quick question on the crown crates @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_KaiSchober

Since real money is involved and the crates are gambling i would of thought:

Some regulation stands over this?

If the answer is no then can ZOS change the drop rates on said items anytime they want?

If so then it would be possible to buff the drop rates for the free crates and nerf them after in a more predatory way to get more people to gamble?

Why is there no transparency on this issue (That i have seen anyway)

Many thanks

ZOS isn't required to disclose drop rates on the crown crates.

A simple forum search would have yielded similar threads where this issue has already been discussed.

    Best advice?

Get your free ones from ESO+ ... but don't participate in them otherwise.

ESO is far from the first MMO to introduce gambling boxes, and I doubt they will be the last. As it stands, I don't believe there are any regulations regarding "virtual" items. In fact, I don't even think someone can be prosecuted for "stealing" your account. Most legal systems have been slow to keep up with technological changes. Even if there was some sort of law regulating the drop rates for crown crates, I'm pretty sure the TOS clearly states that Zenimax can terminate your account and/or take away all of your virtual stuff at any time for any reason, and there is nothing you can legally do about it, regardless of how much money you spent. So it's basically "buyer beware". Don't buy any virtual item in this game (or any other game for that matter) that you're not willing to lose at a moment's notice.

Yup, here in the UK crates aren't currently considered to be gambling in a legal sense.
