Before anything can be fixed, it requires that it actually be broken.
It might be working exactly as intended. Not everything is super saturated with color.

this may be true but...
the top part dyed Venom (green) is gray, dyed any shade of blue it's gray, dyed any shade of red it's slightly pinkish gray (a tad darker pink from behind)

They may well have wanted this costume to be muted, sort of fitting the whole aesthetic of Vvardenfell if you ask me. Truth of the matter is we don't know one way or the other with out official statement.

The holiday crown stamp dyes don't grey out at all...
Almost every unlocked dye gets greyed out into unrecognizable territory...

@Sigtric
There is no need for the costume itself to take dyes badly. If people want muted colors there are literally dozens of great choices. Not everything is or should be super saturated with color, but that really comes down to individual taste, doesn't it? I enjoy extremely vibrant colors on my main character because that's his thing. For other characters it varies a great deal, but this is really only an outfit I'd use on my main anyway. Really, there's no reason not to give players control over this, it's not like it will horribly clash with Vvardenfell's aesthetics any more than the most recently holiday dyes do.

Oh. So if you purchase dyes on the crown store they don't gray out?

No need is personal opinion.
All I am saying is this could be working as intended. If that's the case then no fix needed. Do people want different? Some do, but that's asking for something that's already been sold to be changed.
I was just using Vvardenfell aesthetics as a possible reason it may have been designed this way, if that is indeed the case. Other costumes dye-ability have no bearing on this.
Again it comes down to the truth is we don't know. Only ZOS knows if WAI or not.
At this point I have to agree with this Osteos above.
The big matter at hand as I see it is they need to add dye preview to the crownstore preview.
The problem with fixing it is that a lot of people have bought it and dyed it how they like it. If you change how it dyes it might make you happy but also make them unhappy.
Personally I am happy with it. I like how on the back the color is darker on the midline and then fades.
Just to drive home that this costume doesn't dye very well here is a comparison to 2 other costumes that do dye well.

Cyrod Patrician Formal Gown:

Regalia of the Scarlet Judge:

I'm only picking on this costume because it is new, there are plenty of other costumes and armor that suffer a similar fate.

yah changing the way the dye behaves will anger all 18 of the people that like the dyes that way
Was kinda bummed I can't dye it any shade of green, even a grayish green. Just turns out gray.

My greens are green some even fairly bright. The blues can be blu, particularly Indoril, the reds not so much but I don't have any deep reds. I like that I can get white that's white and I sort of like the pastel tops I made. the current dye stamps use Indoril Blue and Birch White which are easy to get.
