The lag has been around for a long time, (years).FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.Balance is a "Bad" thing.

✭Lags spike like this have been occurring on and off for the past almost two years that I have been playing ESO, as far as I can recall; particularly for some times, from a few days to weeks, following an installment of a new contents such as Morrowind. Also, when a really bad weekend hit, ZOS would post something that it was DDOS and they have been diligently rectifying it. However, for this past weekend, for me, it was the usual here and there, but not as bad as I can recall during those DDOS. You know.. the usual movement glitches, like your toon is stuttering on foot or on mount, and game crashes a few times. Also, weapon/attack glitches for DW is still occurring. Weird though, it seemed to work fine for my StamPlar for this past couple days, but then it spiked again for my DW StamBlade. It's like.. yes, they fixed it, but then.. awe, dammit, again?! Have a trace-route data indicating constant spikes and instability to the ZOS servers. The spikes occur once every 1.5 minutes on average, data is taken over a long capture period ( 1-2 hours)
Using the same tool shows a much more normal and stable connection with other games (for example Overwatch).The numbers thing is always going to be there, but it’s more down to player skill and there are ways through ability choice to configure a group to be stronger vs. large groups of people. - BRAIN WHEELER - 2012 - LOL0 -
drakhan2002_ESO✭✭✭✭✭PC/NA - No lag spikes, no problems (for me)...but I have heard from several guild mates that they were saying they were having problems. ✭✭✭✭✭This information is a bit outdated but I did hear from a close source that ZOS (maybe not maryland, but wherever their datacenter is) had engineers constantly monitoring the servers going as far as to sleeping on cots in the building.
This tells me they have engineers manning the server room 24/7
Which leads me to believe they took some time off for July 4th. So these lag spikes are due to the holiday.
think about it. the last 2-4 days?
OR it could be so many people with time off, its overloading the servers because ESO has SO MANY PLAYERS IT ECLIPSES ALL OTHER COMPETITION.RickterESO

Not sure if this is related but the week prior to noticing lag spikes, I experienced a few (maybe 4) really bizzare game crashes without any warning or error message. I did have a guildmate complaining about spikes and lag etc. I told him to check his video drivers (he had a GTX770 or some such) and that seemed to help when he upgraded. I know that sounds weird and shouldn't have anything to do with lag VS. framerate, but it seemed to help him.

Psilent✭✭✭✭✭I've been experiencing large lag spikes since November 1, 2016. Between the hours of 7pm to 10pm EST I am hit with very large lag spikes in ESO; spikes range from 300 to 999+ every 20 minutes with a 42 minute break of normal latency and then it starts back up again for 20 minutes. I log off around 10pm EST, so it could happen after that time, but never before 7pm.
No other online games I play do I experience latency unless there is a problem in my area. My ISP found the issue on a Peering Point that most US customers go through to reach ZOS, but all attempts to get ZOS to work with my ISP to fix it have failed.
Others in my guild who live near me experience this same latency. Some even on a different ISP.
Please note, I don't get disconnected just lag like crazy for the 20 minutes it's happening. I've just learned to live with it.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Ive played a lot of mmos and i e never experienced the high latency as i have with this game. SWTOR I had 45ms ping with DSL. DSL connection, people. When i got on cable internet that latency dropped to 19ms.
Here comes eso though: never am i below 90ms on even faster cable internet than ever before.
