Crown Sale?

So does anyone remember when the last Crown Pack Sale actually was? I think it was right before Xmas. Pretty sure its high time for another one!

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom, @ZOS_GinaBruno - Any info to share on it (even if its just: None scheduled, maybe in the next few week, maybe in a month or 2)?

I'm not speaking from a place of recent info but my opinion is that those sales and how they utilize crowns in support tickets has drastically devalued them therefore any more sales would do more harm than good.

These prices in crowns for items are waaay out of reality for me. I can't as an adult, continue payin $10 for a personality or costume
$25 to $60 for one cosmetic mount
$80-$200 for a cosmetic home
$60-$100 a year for dlc

This is just one game that's bug ridden

The game should've gone F2P with One Tamriel all things considered

Maybe they decided to add value to the ESO+ Sub by eliminating crown sales. Who knows.

Based on some of the threads it doesn't sound like they're having any trouble getting people to pay full price, though.

Well people as a whole exhibit poor actions and behaviors so out of what 6-8 million accounts

If only 30k buy one $25-$40 crown pack a month or 300k sub each month they're making millions.

ZOS doesn't care. What they do care about is creating a crown sink which now requires the subscriber only type to stay subbed in addition to buying chapters

Except 1500 crowns a month gets you almost nothing anymore, between a lot of stuff going in crown crates and the general price creep of other items.

The DLC price is appropriate. If 4 DLC a year (which is no more) it should cost over $100 in total to buy all when each launches.

For the crown store items it's pretty much vanity. How vane is someone? I do not think Zos intended that everyone would buy a manor. However they did intend the large homes to be gold sinks for those that had it (some players can afford to buy all homes several times over) and Zos clearly intended that some would be vain enough to use crowns for the homes.

Considering most of these items are pure vanity (some is service) I'm not very worried about it.

To the OP. Zos will do a sale when they are ready to do one. They've not followed any schedule. I wouldn't expect a crown sale in the next few weeks. They'll want to milk the cave good. (No, I'm not buying the cave)

Regardless of assumptions, their intent is set based upon a pay gate.

-chapter (at least $39-$59)
-DLC (at least $25 to $40)
-ESO Plus $15/m (Xbox has no discounts on this)

-Cost including all dlc is $70-$100/year
-Collection access and some months sub to ESO Plus is $150+ /year
-ESO Plus annually and chapters with occasional cosmetic purchases $200/year

If I'm honest with myself, this game has yet to offer what is consider $100 worth of value per year. I'd rather spend that on another new console game with a season pass and enjoy one up front cost that include all necessary updates and convenience items.

This is costing by model more than WoW per year (using that as the last game I played and paid for over multiple years in this genre)

For other non-genre at most, I've spent $100 for one game over a 3 year period.

So maybe at the end of this month, start of April, the may be one. But if not, unless there is a major event ZOS wants to celebrate, and I don't Morrowind is it, don't expect another sale till next November.

Honestly with the road they're heading F2P only seems logical; the way things are priced surely matches most F2P games such as neverwinter (at-least they have some good content that makes it less boring to play).

They are probably going to wait out all the impulse buyers before having another crown sale.

Although the last 2 months I have gotten 3k crowns a month with my sub. Not really sure why, I think last month was because of how we lost eso+ for a day. (Closer to 6 hours)

If it were not for the Morrowind announcement I'd agree. I believe it's just a big money grab as much as they can before offloading this to another model or Dev team in 2019 or sooner

Yes please! I've got cash in my wallet standing by to spend on crowns, but since the 40% off sales happen 3-4 times a year, I refuse to pay full price for them. Do you want my cash ZOS? Do ya?

You're right, I checked again and it was actually in mid Nov during the free play week. There have been three other crown store sales on NA PC, early August 2016 after the dungeon pack DLC, early March a year ago during the Thieves guild launch, and Black Friday 2015.

Maybe they'll do something during the anniversary this year, (possibly June for consoles), or when Morrowind or the next DLC after it drops. Honestly though, I'm not expecting anything before next November and saving accordingly.

Yeah I'd say we would possibly see a sale early April when 0 is giving on. + The ESO Anniversary on April 4th.

The subcrtption rate is standard. ESO, WoW and SWTOR are all in the same
Ballpark so the costs isn't any higher for ESO vs wow. Especially if all one is purchasing is the DLCs and expansions they want for $100/ year.

Of course each person determines the value this is to them.

Yes, I think that the devalueing of the sub by reneging on the original advertised benefit of all DLC included, means that F2P is on the cards now IMO. The gouging for housing etc. is now so overt that B2P and sub models are entirely marginalised and really made redundant.

Games have a lifecycle the same as all products, and that lifecycle devalues the game to the point it's eventually devoid of value, at which point it has to go F2P and other revenue streams deployed. It's not a bad thing for the game, the ethos behind it is entirely cash shop based anyway now.

Looking at my account billing history I purchased several 5500 crown packs for $23.99 on April 11, 2017. I believe that was the free play week. So the last Crown Pack sale was in April. So when do you think the next Crown Pack sale will be?

I buy one 5500 crown pack when it goes on sale which I mostly have used for utility stuff like storage. When I run low I buy another on the next sale. I don't buy much though and have regretted some of those so I try to not even check. I did buy the Balmora Holiday outfit and spent a whole 50 crowns on a dye stamp for it but I really like that outfit even with the boob window.
