im not saying have infinite amount of guilds but 5 seems very limited. i have hella guild invites just chilling bc i dont want to lose communication with the guilds i am currently in. i wouldnt even mind spending gold for extra guild slots.

would having more than 5 guilds be detrimental to the game?

Yes, having more than 5 guilds would be detrimental the game. Guilds take up a lot of memory and processing power on the servers. It's the same reason guild membership is capped at 500. Those lists of members have to be stored in memory, and they have to be accessed every time someone sends a message in guild chat.

TBH, 5 is a good number. I am in one Trading Guild and 4 social guilds. Now, the 4 social guilds get traders often so I don't have the need to be in more than one trading guild. Even then, I would only be in two trading guilds.

Anyway, that would leave 3 social guilds for me. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the chit chat and goings on with 3 guilds as it stands now. Plus, the one trading guild I am in is pretty social too, so....

I think 5 is enough and I can't really see a reason to be in more than that.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I would think that the limit was intended to make it more difficult for the ultra wealthy to corner the market. (Doesn't work - Has only made fair trade harder to achieve.)

Five guilds would be enough if we could bump up the number of trader slots in each guild from 30 to at least 50 or 60.

If you want to earn a decent amount of gold each week with just 30 slots, you end up needing to participate in 2 or 3 trading guilds. Then many players also wish to join guilds that focus on PVE progression, large PVP groups, small PVP groups, dueling, tournaments, roleplay, trials, battlegrounds, guild bank storage, social guild etc.

5s a good number. You can mix and match guilds that trade, socialize, pvp, pve, end game trials. Im in 4, one dedicated trading guild and the other 3 have the other aspects I mentioned.

These threads always turn out the same. I'm in the (apparent) minority that would like more guild slots.

So many of my friends from guilds that I'm in have started their own guilds, and get put out when I tell them I can't join their guild because I'm loyal to the five I already have. I have solid reasons for staying in my current guilds, but I would also benefit from being able to see announcements and guild chats in the smaller, sub-guilds.

Sometimes this topic seems like a case of "I don't want this, so no one else should have it", but my own life would be much improved if I could have ten slots.

If your friends are getting put out because you already have five guild slots and can't join theirs, you don't need more guild slots. You need better friends.

Yeah, instead the large guilds just created alliances which basically relegates everyone else to the backwaters.

That's kind of a throw-away reply. There are situations in large guilds where smaller groups of people tend to run together often, but don't have the ability to use the big guild for event planning because all nights are already scheduled.

My problem isn't that I need better friends, it's that I have too many awesome friends and not enough guild slots.

Unless your "get put out" comment was as throw-away as you think my reply was, your friends are not awesome. They're unreasonable jerks.

If I'm taking your words more seriously than you intended them, then it's all just a misunderstanding :)

Most games only let you join one per character, I personally feel like 5 is a too many, when you are in so many guilds you don't really have the commitment to those guilds that you should.

Simple solution have them all join one guild. Lol

The more guilds a player is a part of the less active they are in each guild overall. The game really should limit guild to a maximum of 1-3. And make the other 2 ESO plus perks. Less guilds for players to join means more active guilds overall.

MMORPG's used to be all about "playing with others"

MMORPG's have evolved into "solo play"

Solo players just want to have access to any group content without having to forge friendships and grow with a group of people aka the guild.

Back in days, you do a raid with the guild, 2 items drop. Everyone gets excited, everyone has there fingers crossed for the loot, everyone is excited that the guild is getting stronger.

What it has evolved into, everyone gets loot, we just do this content because its part of the, grind... Another thing MMORPG's has evolved into. The grind. The solo. The all about having access to everyone, being apart of everything so I can access everything, no work necessary, no loyalty necessary, no friendships necessary.

I agree with weirdoface. There's no reason to have a limited number of guild traders when more and more people are playing the game. It just makes newer guild have a more difficult time establishing traders and supporting their members.

No, it is not a case of that. There are many reasons to limit. Imagine the same people having 10 trading guilds to reduce competition in the hottest areas. The backend would also have to handle the additional data. Having less also encourages people to do more in the guilds they are in.

Personally, I would be happy to have more than 5 guilds, especially since one of mine is just for personal inventory. But I understand why 5 makes sense.

Thing is, if it was 10, there would still people people saying, "why just 10"?

    Why is guild inference limited.

Why can't we set a guild house?

Why can't we earn tiny amount of AP from captured keeps?

Why is there no save in dragon star? Why doesn't the guild bank have more options?

When's the last time guild icons where updated.

Why is there no guild quests?

What is there no guild benifits? Like 1 attribute in stamina or something depending on lvl of guild. Quest gold goes to guild.

How about 1.5k xp for grouping with guild mates? @Wrobel

Why can't we give our old useless gold amour to guildmates or have guild gear for people to use but is returned after x amount of time

Why don't we have contribute points for guilds mates?

How about group finder for guildmates ....that trial group finder could be made this way.

How about a junk or free section in guild bank or free box people can take from in guild house?

How about guild rewards? maybe this how you upgrade gear to 180? Or housing rewards like amoury,... group buff for 1 hour (consumable)

How about quests from other guild mates like gather 50 mundane runes and will buy for x amount, or find world set x for lvl 20 to 25 etc, need lvl 10 jelwery , looking for famring parnter for x, looking for fishing parnter

How about mini games! Horse races, farming, dice roll, argonion snakes and rope,

Why are we limited to 100 friends...it's about time to bump it no? @ZOS_GinaBruno it's been awhile since I said your name

To be honest 5 is wierd, but it's how the system works so I accept it. Having more wouldn't make me happy. I just want better ways to interact with what I have.

I forgot to mention, the subject of this thread is easy to answer. Everything needs a limit because resources are limited. We can debate what that limit should be, but no one should be asking why there is a limit at all.

Yes, having more than 5 guilds would be detrimental the game. Guilds take up a lot of memory and processing power on the servers. It's the same reason guild membership is capped at 500. Those lists of members have to be stored in memory, and they have to be accessed every time someone sends a message in guild chat.

Proof that it requires more power? lol

Are... are you seriously not aware that computers have to store things in memory to be able to do things with them? If that's something you think needs "proof," I'm not sure you should be using a computer.
