Bear farm in stormhaven

So my daughter was running around on her toon today and had me come look.. In stormhaven there was a bearmassacre.

5-6 low level sorts standing around with twilight's and changers...facing spawns. Alternating heavy attacks and blockade...

They weren't moving. And we're attacking even when there wasn't any bears spawned.

I assume this is bots with macros? But I thought this wasn't possible on ps4....

Yep, bots, and definitely possible on PS4. I went by that area the other day and I was happy that there were none (there was before cuz I reported a whole pile of them), but I guess they came back

on XBOX NA they weren't even BOTS... people were actually farming. I imagined it was for the mats as much as the xp?

Dolmens are much better for XP.

Dolmens are much better for XP and yes the bear farming is just for the mats even tho there is a much better spot for farming mats 1000+ every few mins ;)

Riiiiight, actual people standing in the exact same spot 24/7 doing the same attacks over and over and over even when there are no mobs to kill.

    Sounds legit ...

I know full well there are bots/rubberbanders, but the group I saw in that spot on XBOX were running all over the place.. definitely not bots, but definitely farming. I farmed with them for a bit out of curiosity and moved on.

    Remember the pig farm? LOL!

They aren't bots. They literally just tape down the attack button - the more appropriate term would be "Rubber Banders" and while slightly the same, they're vastly different.

Botting requires writing key/mouse macros in a way that gives them intelligence to move around doing tasks. Bots will actually move place to place - they can be set to a cycle and check all the nodes in an area for example, or chest farm, or whatever else.

It's the same idea - getting the rewards without doing the work - but we simply do not have "bots" on console - since there's no type of 3rd party support for them that's possible, even with the advent of save editors upon us - it's just not within console capabilities at this point in time. Bots are way more intelligent, and way more problematic than rubber banders.

In the ToS they are considered bots and will should be banned like bots.

Right and I never said anything against that. Just because TOS considers them as such - doesn't mean that's what they are. I was explaining the difference. I'm still all for them being banned for not controlling their characters - doesn't change the fact that when you consider what a bot actually is, it's not what these guys are. They are just being treated the same :)

I was just trying to do a little public education.

So if I autorun inside Bleaks...

    I'm considered a bot

So if I have something on my autoattack button so I autoattack...

    I'm considered a bot

That means in regular Elder Scroll game,
having something so I jump for hours...

    Thats considered botting

having something so I autorun into wall while sneaking...

    Thats considered botting

    Back in days.
We called bots, people who were running programs so they have autoaim, people who shoot backwards too. Once in LOS, you will get shot at, thats what we called bots.

    @lagrue

Thanks but I'm well aware of the difference. I use "bots" as a general umbrella term for simplicity.
