Golden Vendor and Infused?

Why does the golden vendor sell infused for gold instead of divines? The undaunted chests make it hard enough to get the set you are looking for let alone in the right trait. The monster helms are the same way in some difficult dungeons. I understand why they have impenetrable for AP to help PvPers who want the sets but want to stay in PVP instead of dealing with PVE bs. Do the devs just want to make people keep grinding for their divine monster sets? That way we keep doing the daily pledges?

Well the idea was it was always meant to be a way for PvP players to get the sets without a PvE grind. However then everyone got upset they got special treatment and it became a PvE/PvP vendor in reality.
Infused and Impen were at the time the best trait choices, since then Divines has basically taken over everything.

Token system has been in talks according to ZOS interviews pre-morrowind, they have also confirmed at the same time they know RNG in a pain point for the game and want to address it.

I think the idea is to not give PvE players (some of who sit on tens of millions of gold) the chance to just go buy perfect gear and never actually touch the content. The reason PvP players get a free pass on that is because they're forced to do content they don't want and doesn't benefit their play area much for a random chance to get something.

I guess its just a compromise. AP for impenetratable does take some PVPing... so its kind of worked for. Gold on the other hand is fairly easy to obtain, and while the set is available for everyone with gold I guess it would be quite a kick in the nuts of all those that farmed it, if it was sold with the most desireable trait ... for a few coins.

    Just a wild guess tho

It probably is to extend gaming time by having people farm for perfect traits and armour weight combos, that said though sacrificing one or two pieces of divines for infused is far from build breaking.

because Infused used to be BiS when the golden was implemented. that meta has since shifted to Divines but zos did not update the gear

Which is exactly why I keep telling people that the idea of vMA only dropping the "good" traits is a terrible design idea in the long run.

Meta's will change, and when they do you don't want to have to update a bunch of loot tables.

I am hoping when ZOS gets a token system they just make a AP > token conversion and removes the boss helms from the golden vendor.

That's not exactly accurate. Infused was getting kicked around the forums as BiS before The Golden was implemented. Someone, I think it might have been Deltia, was talking it up, and their minions were parroting off whatever they'd been told. So, The Golden sells Infused.

In theory, yes. In practice, The Golden always sold Infused gear. Back when she was first introduced, her AP items were also infused. So you'd end up with that either way. So, while she was supposed to be a concession to PvPers, she's always been a PvE vendor.

Which is why I always felt a vendor was a bad way of doing it.
Just feels cheesy to me to have an NPC sell perfect items for gold/AP.

yeah, it really depends on the way you PVP ... thats why I said "kind of worked for" ... for some it does take work to get the 200k AP other might feel its like collecting candy at karneval.

@Turelus I do get the cheesy part, but I am not really complaining about it. I am able to solo some dungeons - mostly bc I already got the monster set of my liking through PVP. I am not a teamplayer, I guess I will never be one... and I can assure you i wouldn't go for dungeons if I wasn't equipped in a way to do them solo. Cheesy or not, its a way for me to participate in an aspect of the game I couldn't participate in otherwise. As said i guess its a compromise and from my viewpoint its a good one, too.

Dps meta for sharPen will not change unless penteration bonus become more easier and other dps traits nirn/precise/infuse got some buff!

Infused on a helm is basically indistinguishable from Divines. It would be virtually impossible to tell the difference in a DPS parse, although on paper Divines is better by a tiny margin.

As for shoulders, the difference is larger but still only something like 0.25%.

Infused is also desirable for non-DPS roles, especially on the helm.

Nothing wrong with Infused on a head piece. Whether or not it's precisely optimal, it's close enough that one shouldn't complain. Infused on a shoulder piece, however, is just stupid.

Fortunately, players become able to farm shoulders (any normal mode dungeon will do) before they can farm head pieces (specific dungeons in vet mode).

Also fortunately, none of this is terribly important. If there are cases where an armor trait on a single piece gives even .5% to DPS, I'm not aware of them.
