Change item Traits with Mimic Stones - Suggestion

Hello,

Problem description: many of us spent countless hours to farm our current golden gear.
With the Morrowind expansion, the tanking gear benefits more from other traits, since resource management is more important than ever.

Solution: many players would gladly pay crowns to be able to switch traits on their golden armor instead of wasting months to farm another identical one, just with a different trait. I will surely pay for such "mimic stones".

Condition to use it ? Ok, you could make things more difficult and who want to change a trait on its armor, should have the trait researched within the correct crafting profession.

Need more reasons ? I farm for months a piece of gear (in my particular case I need heavy / medium armor Ilambris with Divines) and I'm always getting the wrong stats. I will surely pay with crowns to end my pain and have the correct stats on the already possesed piece of gear.

I'm not suggestion to buy directly the piece of gear, but it would be great to be able to change the trait.

If you allow us the usage of the Mimic stones to change the aspect of the gear, why don't you let us use the Mimic stones so we could also change the traits ?

Thank you for reading.

That would be the definition of Pay 2 Win...

RNG and grind is a problem, but going P2W is for sure not the solution.

It's not pay to win. Changing the trait of an item will NOT make it any better than another item that already had that trait and you got it for free. Will make it correct for a specific build that have issues with the resource manangement.

P2W would be if I pay for my item that it would become let's say 10% better than the similar item you get for free. Let's say I buy a legendary vMA staff that does 10%+ damage than your epic vMA staff - yes, that would be P2W and it would be bad for any game in general, since P2W isn't tolerated . You made it quite clear and I agree.

So for example if i was about to go farm a set of 5 armor pieces of Spriggans set, and I wanted divines... With your system I could go and just get 5 pieces of armor in any trait, then PAY to have the trait changed to divines (or whatever is BIS for what im going for). Im pretty sure that is P2W. Paying money to take gear that is crap, and turning it into the best it can be... bad for the game, sorry.

Essentially you would be asking to pay (for a mimic stone) to change your prosperous drop to sharpened which is SUBSTANTIALLY better. Yes, that is P2W.

You're wrong, my sharpened weapon won't be better than your looted one. If it would of been better, that would of be the real p2w.
What you're saying is that you prefer farming it instead of buying it. This is usually said by the 1% of the lucky persons who got a rare item and for sure they don't want others to have it, no matter what :)))

Again, I would actually pay for my time enjoying the game not farming the same boss 100 times to get the correct trait on some item that could become useless after some patch.

I prefer to use that 100 x "boss killed" time, going out with my daughter, doing my work that pays more than 1 token / hour ;)

So yes, I would gladly spend real money instead of dumb farming for better stats, that you actually need if you want to enjoy the end-game content.

As I said before, I opened many times (too many for my liking) the undaunted chest to get the Divines Ilambris. I still don't have it after months of boring content repeating. To get such keys I must complete those dumb quests, repeating the same boring dungeons day after day, sometimes with noob groups that cannot even kill the last boss in vet mode, so I must complete it in normal to get at least a key... I don't enjoy it and soon I'll get to the point of not enjoying the game anymore .

So I would pay for it to end my pain and to also end wasting my time in such manner, because I paid more than 300 euro on this game so far and I don't want to abandon my "investment" in digital fun. ESO is a good game afterall and if they don't give us nothing else for single player, I'm buying here in this MMO.
Paying for playing it's ok for me. You don't wanna know how much I paid for Hearthstone :)) It makes me sick even thinking about it ... about the price of a good 2nd hand car :))))))))

Again about p2w, I don't want to buy the item without looting it first - that would change completely the game, removing basically any incentive to do group PVE (and still not p2w according to the general accepted definition).
I just want to change the stats, to make it equal to your item, paying instead of farming it for 100 hours or more, just because I value my time more? No. Just because it's boring like hell to repeat the same content hundreds of hours and then the delusion, when again you didn't get the correct stats after seeing the correct item in your inventory. That makes me feel bad. I play to feel good. I'm already paying to play it so I don't mind paying a bit more to enhance my experience.

Why did I waste the time to reply here ? Because this is important to me and I would be happy to pay for such token (like many others who actually are farming now the dumb items or they are just living their real life - I'm at work now, in a short break between my patients, so I can reply here).

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will not make a poll out of it.

I trust ZOS and their marketing experts.

... bad for the game, sorry.

Please explain better why it would be bad for the game. I feel like I'm missing your point here.

It could be bad only for the players making profit on other people who cannot farm all their gear stats (like divines necro / spinner's, etc) and must buy from the guild vendor. Yes, that would hurt a bit the gold diggers and maybe there would be less illegal gold sales inside the game ... in the end the game would benefit, lowering the number of cheaters and farm bots. I don't actually know of any bots, but I keep reading here on forums about it, so I guess they exist.

Yes. I would gladly pay for it. I guess ZOS wants our money so it could have mine. For sure 1-2 euros won't make us any richer or poorer.

Anyway, it's not for us to decide. I understand that not everybody agrees with everybody. It's normal.

Why? You dont need to change traits on CRAFTED gear...you just craft it with the traits you want. No, we need to be able to change traits on dropped gear...but no, it shouldnt be a crown store item, it should be an item that drops with the rarity of Aetherial Dust....which is reasonable, it doesnt drop often, but it drops more often than Aetheric Ciphers, but less often than Potent Nirncrux. This way it has a value of roughly 100k, which is a reasonable cost to change an item trait.

Using this argument, you could sell virtually anything that is currently in the game in the crown store...including characters, skills etc...
Have a large wallet...here, have a fully equipped level CP630 character with all skills ready to go, add it to your trolley & proceed to the checkout.

I want to play a game not engage in a virtual Walmart.

This is a pay to win mechanic. Its not game breaking and would not create a disparity between different players combat potential at max level with BIS. However, you are suggesting that we should be able to purchase BIS stats with an item off the crown store, skipping all of the prerequisite game mechanics required to obtain BIS.

This is lazy, would lead to a crash in the player economy and would detract from the games longevity. Additionally, the NA and EU game markets have a proven track record of a drop in the active player base once pay to win mechanics are introduced. For examples, go look up some of the recent Korean titles and their introduction to a western market. Archage is the example that immediately comes to mind.

What your suggesting is harmful to the player base and to multiple game mechanics. You should only be able to purchase cosmetic changes or non-combat convenience item such as the merchants. Anything altering a combat stat is a strict no, sorry.

A bit sad to see the community thinks this way. A company needs money to survive.

I guess I should not play a MMO since I don't have the time to farm the gear to play its best content.
If you don't have the gear, in pvp you're always the victim.
If you don't have the gear, nobody will take you in vet trials. For this I would change the stats on my looted armor.

So what's left to do without BiS gear ? You run around like a foul helping random NPC's... and the problem is I've completed all quests in the past 3 years ... not much left to do besides farming gear, but having VERY limited time to do so.

Looks like for me it's "game over" or try try try for years to loot the BiS gear ... until comes a new expansion and a new BiS ... and it was all for nothing

Only in ESO you find this system (call it as you want) where you can loot without control a ton of useless stuff and you cannot even fix it. You can just destroy it. No fun in this. At all.

That's a wonderful pity party you're throwing, I can't help but read "me, me, me, me... me". You could always go farm Gold to purchase an alternate item with strong stats off the AH, as most of us do. Or settle for an infused or precise trait that is second best. While your being bored of content has nothing to do with this request. Go try alternate content.

I'm sorry you feel that earning the best is an inconvenience. And no ESO is not the only game that does not have a pay to win edit fot gear stats. Go play WOW or another title that will cater to your needs.

...sorry I had to edit this. You would actualy find WOW's gear grind even more of an inconvience given you have to obtain new BIS for every Expansion they release (on a near yearly basis). However, you can at least spend your fortunes and buy gold to buy some of your gear in that title, though it's not there BIS gear either. Good luck finding that mechanic anywhere out side of a cell phone app.
