Is it shock, magic, fire, ice? and how can I increase Meteor's damage

I am only level 6 in mage's guild and want to take it up to lvl 10. What would u suggest to be the fastest way to increase the skill line?

EDIT:
I am a console (PS4) player

Reading Lorebooks, each gives 5xp. There's also a Mages Guild daily that sends you to a Public Dungeon to retrieve an artifact from Sheogorath, the quest also gives a bit of xp

Meteor has 2 morphs: Shooting Star, which does Flame Damage, and Ice Comet, which does Cold Damage

Do you think I should also do the mage's guild quests? or should I stick to only finding books? If the former, do you know the approximate exp those quests give?

The fastest (and only efficient) way reaching 10 is finding those purple shining books and reading them all over the world. You need to find and read at least all of the books in 7 PvE zones to get there.

Meteor through its morphs is either Fire or Cold damage.

Mage's Guild Q don't give any XP for the skill line.

Use google and run down the books ( assuming your console ) . Finish the zones you already have some in 1st , clearing a zones books gives a nice boost along with any collection completion.

If I recall last time I leveled MG & FG couple patches ago the guild quests didn't reward any skill line XP or was way to low to see a movement.

Dailies for both guilds are way to low XP to be a reliable way to level being limited to 1 per day and taking around 15 mins give or take for each.

The daily quests do. The actual storyline quests don't

The quests themselves don't award any Mage's Guild XP. The book at the end of each quest however is a unique lorebook, and will give MG XP like any other lorebook. There is a collection for all the guild questline books (Trial of Eyevea), completing it will award a little extra MG XP.

In terms of leveling the skill line quickly, it's more efficient to get the lorebooks add-on and grab them from the overland zones, and try to complete as many collections as possible. You can see the collections under the lore library tab of the journal. If you've never done the MG questline I'd recommend it though.

The Mages Guild story quests don't give xp, but the dailies give like 10xp I think and it's possible to share those with others so you can do multiple of them each day.

Edit: you can pick up the dailies at the Mages Guild in each Alliance Capital (Wayrest, Mournhold or Elden Root). Look for Alvur Baren

But I would suggest to go Lorebook hunting. If you're on PC, get the Lorebooks addon: it places map markers for them on the map. Then just travel the different zones and pick them up

If you are on pc, download the "minion" program and then the lorebook-addon, makes farming mage guild exp so much more enjoyable

I know shooting star is fire based and I'm pretty sure Ice comet is magic based.
