yeah... "performance issues" is the reason why they don't want to up the cap. What a straight up blatant lie of a statement that is. Totally explains why then ESO plus members get a higher furniture cap compared to non eso members. Maybe the tight restriction is just a sly/cunning way for Zo$ to have people sub.

I say give them some more time. Morrowind just came out and it has several houses and a lot of new furnishings. They have been busy.

I can't find any statements from ZOS concerning raising the furniture cap (or not). As usual the search function doesn't come up with a result.

It would be nice if @ZOS_GinaBruno or another community person took five minutes to post and let us know what they have in mind. There are a huge number of threads about this, and they won't go away until an answer is given.

That also is a good reason for a dedicated Housing Section in the forum. One of the reasons there are so many threads on the same subject is that unless they are commented on quickly, threads only stay on the front page of recent discussions for a brief time before they get lost in the general chaos of the rest of the forum threads.
