Question at the lore people, how likely is it that an emperor crab could have survived until now?

Many people keep asking for gigantic sized bosses similiar to other mmos.
There are certain mudcrab world bosses but they barely twice the size of a bear.

So what are the changes that an emperor crab might be still hiding somewhere or a crazy mage supersize a mudcrab?

It's pretty clear in the lore that they have been gone since before the 1st age even began.

Unsure about lifespan but I can easily see something like "This mage was experimenting with mudcrabs, their spell went wrong and now we got a giant dragon-sized Mudcrab on our hands." tbh.

Many of the really large mud crabs and crab species in Elder Scrolls died out as a species by the end of the Merethic Era/Mythic Era. The reason being isn't really given as this is what did it but many lore say it was a combination of things on Nirn as time went on. Nothing was given as this is what killed theme off but many have speculated climate, hunting, and species death due to there size.

It wouldn't work as a world boss as they are gone, but I could see one trapped in a giant cave for a dungeon. I don't know how old they can get but we could always have a necromancer resurrect it if need be. Also if there was a DLC situated around a dragon break there could be an emperor crab somewhere there.

I personally would prefer if they stayed dead, and it's not very likely, but it is somewhat possible.
