How do you repair only equipped gear at a vendor?

FlapjackSerious
For some reason I can't figure this out.
  • The "repair all" option appears to include gear in my bags
  • A merchant's repair window doesn't give any indication of which gear is equipped, making manual repair difficult
  • You can't have the paper doll open at the same time as a merchant window for some reason, making manual repair difficult
  • Repair kits exist, but repair merchants are much more numerous and it is not clear that kits are cost effective compared to merchant repair

Am I just missing something? Is routine gear repair supposed to be a pain in ESO?

You can pick the items rather than do all?

Repair kits come out of your ears if you do daily Writs, I have 100's of them.

Also why would you carry broken kit you didn't want repaired is my bigger question?

How is your unequipped gear becoming damaged?

See my second and third points:
    • A merchant's repair window doesn't give any indication of which gear is equipped, making manual repair difficult
    • You can't have the paper doll open at the same time as a merchant window for some reason, making manual repair difficult
So unless I want to keep a written list of equipped gear, or memorize a new list each time I switch out a piece, repairing individual pieces is not feasible.

Isn't there a tab for gear repair where you can pick the item? I'm sure I've seen it...

Picking the item manually isn't the question. The ESO interfaces makes it unfeasible; see above.

I assume the same way any gear becomes damaged: through combat or death. Not actually sure how it works in ESO.

Ah, I see what you mean. You want to know, from the repair tab, which items are equipped so you can repair only those, yes? In that case I'm not aware of any way to do it; I usually just know what the characters is wearing, so I never realised that it could be an issue for some.

Maybe there's an addon for it, but I wouldn't know.

You can bank, deconstruct, or vendor unwanted equipment before you repair. It's not an efficient work around, but other than repair kits which do target individual pieces can be cheaper than repairing at vendors if its heavily damaged.

I see from another thread you are on PC...

I believe there is an addon that will help you do that, although I don't recall which one.

There is another addon though that make visiting a merchant to do so a thing of the past and will greatly cheapen your repairs. Auto Recharge will let you set a % that you would like to repair at after having left combat. Only catch is must have repair kits on your character.

They aren't too expensive at guild stores at least on PC NA. 70ish gold per grand repair kit, I think I sell mine around 68g per usually. As @Beardimus mentioned above doing writs you will start having hundreds of extras of them.
