I admit I get a bit irritated when I have to tell people that no, I didn't get the clouded senche-leopard from the crates so they can stop calling me a hypocrite, I bought it when it was first released. ✭✭✭The simple truth is, they're running out of *** quickly when it comes to what they can put in these crates. Simple reskins and ready made skins are obviously now the staple of these boxes. It's half the reason why almost every single CS proper mount now only appears for 2 weeks max. They pull them fast so they can shove them in a box at a later date. Same with the costumes, pets etc that have made way for new stuff on the CS. Nothing to do with not having enough room on the store, but everything to do with making sure they have enough *** to fire into these crates.7 -

Pappa✭✭✭The only things you won't see in there is the Beta Monkey, the High Hrothgar Wraith, the Loyal Dwaven Sphere and the Striped Senche, everything else, no matter how limited or expensive will make its way via crown crates.
You will prolly see variants of the ones i mentioned but not those exact models

@ZOS_GinaBruno please ask the people in charge of the Crown store store stuff to omit the wording "Limited" in future crown Store releases please

No it doesn't. But they did say "only available until x date." I stated in another thread almost the same thing. Usually that would mean all sales cease on that item.
The fact that they were only available for that short 4 days was why they were so compelling to purchase. You lost your sense of exclusivity. It some how made you feel extra special. This is all it's really about, you're salty af because now wee Timmy and his mates have the same mount as you now. The trouble is, they never said it wouldn't be available again later. "Available for a limited time" and "only available between X and Y dates" fulfills itself when the sale is over and the product is 'off the shelves' or out of the market place. Nothing was ever mentioned that this would be the only time it would happen.
They could bring the dromathra senche back to the crown store for a month next year, for a direct price, and it'd still be limited.
Further, technically; they still aren't for sale. You are trading other items for them now at this point.

It was never a limited edition in that there were only so many available, but that is was for sale for a limited time.
Now it is a gamble, and a rare item at that, to get the mount.

Right. That's moreso what I was getting at. I'm definitely not upset that others can now have access to the senche mount as well as other limited edition things. But being that they're recycled ZoS should probably more accurately describe what limited edition is to them. In every other MMO I've played where limited edition items were a thing, they were never recycled in the cash shop.

Honestly? Not so much. This is probably one of the least offensive crate systems I've seen.- It doesn't get crammed into your inventory, cluttering it up, and demanding you cough up keys.
- It doesn't include items that are BIS (yes, this is a real thing, and a lot of games force you to play the crates, or buy off others for your endgame gear).
- It doesn't cough up empty boxes (okay, kinda. Your prize item can be something you don't want, but the crates do have at least one prize item each, instead of just some consumables.)
- You can, in fact, completely ignore the crates.
- None of the consumables are unobtainable through other means. (Yes, the 2x and 2.5x XP pots are a pain in the ***, but you can obtain them without paying cash.)
- You cannot sell stuff you get from the boxes on the open market. (Yeah, I know, most people would cite this as a negative, but at the same time it means you can't simply use the crates to buy gold. Meaning you're not facing a game where the inflation heavily favors players who are paying real cash to get ahead.)
- You can buy (almost) anything you want, from the crates, eventually. (The one catch here are the three new alternate material Apex mounts. Before that, you could buy anything with gems.)
It's not ideal, but this is probably one of the least predatory luckybags I've ever seen.3 -

Back when the Crown Store was first introduced, it was made very clear that items would be rotated out, and that they'd become available again later. At that point the assumption was that limited time items would be back in the store, though, now, they're being brought back through crates.1 -

The marketing is fairly common and normal these days. Find a big box MMO, a top MMO that does not have a cash store. Most of them have something like the crates.
Not arguing against that. It's very common. This particular version is just the worst implementation of crates that I've dealt with.
Honestly? Not so much. This is probably one of the least offensive crate systems I've seen.- It doesn't get crammed into your inventory, cluttering it up, and demanding you cough up keys.
- It doesn't include items that are BIS (yes, this is a real thing, and a lot of games force you to play the crates, or buy off others for your endgame gear).
- It doesn't cough up empty boxes (okay, kinda. Your prize item can be something you don't want, but the crates do have at least one prize item each, instead of just some consumables.)
- You can, in fact, completely ignore the crates.
- None of the consumables are unobtainable through other means. (Yes, the 2x and 2.5x XP pots are a pain in the ***, but you can obtain them without paying cash.)
- You cannot sell stuff you get from the boxes on the open market. (Yeah, I know, most people would cite this as a negative, but at the same time it means you can't simply use the crates to buy gold. Meaning you're not facing a game where the inflation heavily favors players who are paying real cash to get ahead.)
- You can buy (almost) anything you want, from the crates, eventually. (The one catch here are the three new alternate material Apex mounts. Before that, you could buy anything with gems.)
It's not ideal, but this is probably one of the least predatory luckybags I've ever seen.

No, opinion is legitimate here. As design choices go, luckybags are a plague. Having played other games with much more predatory implementations of them, though, these are about as benign as they can get.
Hell, last I checked, Cryptic was locking classes in their lockboxes, and those do drop (and clog up your inventory) just running normal content.2 -

Right. That's moreso what I was getting at. I'm definitely not upset that others can now have access to the senche mount as well as other limited edition things. But being that they're recycled ZoS should probably more accurately describe what limited edition is to them. In every other MMO I've played where limited edition items were a thing, they were never recycled in the cash shop.
The trouble is applying what other MMOs do instead of looking at ESO history with this stuff, and also using the term "limited edition" it implies things not applicable here. These have only ever been time limited and they've held true to that.
Back when the Crown Store was first introduced, it was made very clear that items would be rotated out, and that they'd become available again later. At that point the assumption was that limited time items would be back in the store, though, now, they're being brought back through crates.

✭✭Oh wow i was busy, nice debate, ya i guess its true what some people are saying about the god damn mc-rib...... but on the other hand im pretty sure the way they advertised this was its gone after 4 days and it wont be back. And even if im wrong about that to put an expensive mount like this in the crates is obscene, i mean what was it around 40 bucks? Thats a lot! If they wanted to put it back on the crown store then ok, but crown crates makes it seem like cool i spent 40 bucks on it a year ago and now anyone can get it with one crate..
Im over it though, just my opinion, but i am curious to know how people would feel if they put the monkey in one of these crates.. or the ice wraith, or the jester outfit with the 3 faces.. Dont worry im sure they will eventually, and this only applies to day one players but how would you guys take it? i mean to me its more of a money thing, like i said i spent a lot on it and now its possibly worth less than 400 crowns if rng is good to someone.1 -
