The biggest difference I see between ff14 and ESO is the amount of love and respect the ff14 players have and show for the game developers. Naoki Yoshida is like a rock god to those guys. The ESO/FF14 communities are like night and day in that regard.

been playing eso for 2 years almost 3 now. Master crafter, have the skin, farmed maelstrom. Nothing much to do anymore but doing daily writs and pvp. Dungeons is just useless now since I already have all the monster sets in the right trait with left over keys. Now logging in feels like a chore. And when I pvp I'm always saying to myself what's the point? I'm not having fun like I used to when I was a scrub. Giving ff 14 in some random day was the best decision ever. The game have so much to offer than what eso can do. So many more classes. So much more to do in the game. Very good dungeon finder system. While you que for a dungeon you can go do other things while waiting cause they actually tell you what number you are in the waiting list. So much more to explain but that's not the topic here. I'm still a sub for eso cause I love to support eso hoping for better future content. But for now, I'm enjoying ff 14 a lot more.

So basically you did everything in ESO and got bored so you started a new MMO and are amazed because you haven't done everything.

    Ok then.

You didn't get far enough into the game I guess, cause nowadays NPCs don't stfu during cutscenes, granted the lip synching is in old school japanese voice over dubbing so it is totally off in regards to actual lip movement and what they're actually saying.

I dont mean cutscenes. I guess ESO spoiled to me..when you talk to a NPC, they actually talk to you..on FFXIV its all text. Admittedly this was just a little annoyance, it was combat that was the huge turnoff for me in FFXIV, did not enjoy it at all. I never have liked games with cooldowns...would much rather have a resource pool to manage, auto attacking is terrible, I have hated all games that have it...in the end combat in FFXIV felt static and boring, whereas in ESO its very much dynamic with far more movement. In all honesty I think ESO would become even more fun combat wise if they removed all the red AoE indicators and telegraphs so you would have to carefully watch enemies...or rather, some type of dungeon ultra-hard mode in which they did this. #Make-dungeons-hard-again.

Not a fan of how limited FFXIV is. ESO is currently the best game out there.

Lol I might be dusting off my 72 Million SP dedicated Combat pilot, here shortly. Did CCP unnerfed the Capital Jump Drives? That's what made me stop playing that game. After 1 and half to 2 years of IRL time training for capitals booms nuked into uselessness.

Pretty much how ZOS has nuked player skill into uselessness here in ESO. Gear vs Players the new age combat in gaming.

As we know, ESO has a TON of issues, but it's not enough to make me leave... yet.

The #1 issue ESO has for me is the lack of endgame content. As far as MMOs go, endgame is the most important part by far, of there comes a time where I'm burned out on ESO's endgame content because there isn't enough FFXIV is where I'll go.

Like a lot of people, I've played both games for months/years. Very different games, but not a whole lot to choose between them when it comes to enjoyment. My FF gaming goes back all the way to FFVII, and I've played almost every FF game that was subsequently released, including their first MMO FFXI which was awesome. And I'll certainly be trying out future FF games. There has never been a better franchise.

But ESO is my personal game of choice of the two under discussion, and unless I get pulled away by another FF game, I'll be staying here for a long time.

Unfortunately, I agree entirely with the above poster's comments. Naoki Yoshida is indeed a gaming rock god, and maybe some of it is due to the fact that he is upfront and simply THERE. It's not the ESO/FFXIV communities that are like night and day.....it's the ESO/FFXIV devs. Sad but true.

Coming from a FFXIV legacy player that has played every day from 1.0 launch you would think I would choose FFXIV however, as of this year I totally dropped the game as its always the same thing with every patch tomes/fates/dungeons grind etc.. for the past two years I played both xiv and eso non stop but eso won my heart. There just isn't a thing I hate about eso. The world/quest/lore/dungeons/pvp/crafting/the voice acting and the music! I just love everything about it. While in XIV I did not care about the weird world and the MSQ any longer and found myself just wanting to skip dialog and move on. The only thing that held me onto xiv was all the time/work that went into my character and the friends I had made in our Free company.

After playing games like ESO and TERA I just don't enjoy xiv's combat system any longer.

I know ESO isn't perfect but I love all the time and effort ZOS has put into this great game.

I've played both. I hate that FFXIV is so much like WOW. ESO is a much better game in my opinion. I want full voice acting, not half assed voice and then read all the text. It was done so poorly. I really don't understand why people love it so much. Must be the Asian art?

It also might be, that when trying to join other people in a dungeon/battle the game doesn't randomly decide to throw us all out.

ESO, but I'm biased. Love the ES series and lore and never played any FF games. I'm sure they're fun, great games and all, I'm just not really into the whole anime / eastern RPG style. I will refrain from using the offensive 'W' word associated with such content out of respect for people with different tastes. To each their own. Just because I like A better than B is no reason to hate on or insult people who prefer B.

I played FFXIV for years. Objectively there is a LOT more to do in FFXIV than ESO and it simply does things better than ESO.

In ESO you basically do combat, decorate your house or collect (motifs). I don't count crafting because there's not that much worth crafting and it's simplistic in design.

In FFXIV you do combat, decorate your house (but can do gardening to create various beneficial and unique items), collect stuff, crafting (is as indepth as the combat with skills, gear and a MUCH MUCH broader array of things to craft such as choco mount skins), chocobo racing/breeding, Gold Saucer mini games, guild expeditions (that reward unique skinned armor and other treasures), has a transmog system, better market system...there is probably a lot more but I haven't played for over a year.

That being said, I prefer ESO. FFXIV is almost too overwhelming in all the things to do. In terms of breadth of content, FFXIV owns ESO over and over and over again. I like ESO better regardless. The combat is more to my liking.

FFXIV has the horrible thing called it's Main quest scenario. Where you're forced to do it if you even want to play with your friends. That's all the vanilla game, it's patches, all the expansion and IT'S patches just to get into Stormblood. You gotta do them in order and half of them are:
"You have to stop this RIGHT now or else the world is going to end! But first go to the other side of the world to get some eggs then come back, now go back to where you got those eggs to talk with someone, now come back, repeat 5 times, congrats you finished one quest, repeat forever"

They added the option to let you skip the MSQ.. but it cost money, where they could have easily gone "Once you read X level you can jump to the other expansion, here's a cutscene explaining what happened." nah they decided to charge you money if you want to do that.

At one point, the main story quest in Stormblood has you (God-killer, world-changer) picking up TURDS. This is not a joke and it's taken seriously. And, yes, same grind they've had for three years. At least ESO encourages you to farm different stuff, for fun builds, PVP, whatever. There's no different in FFXIV. Same skills, same gear at top end. Click on any end game toon and everyone wears the same gear, just glamored. Absolutely no diversity aside from the surface aesthetics.

The music can be epic, though, and the sheer amount and quality of social tools shames ESO and many other online games. Visuals have their moments too. But that's it, I've shelved SB now after the turd-quest.

P.S. Obviously my stance has changed since the vote lol

Isnt final fantasy a just a rpg without pvp? Lol im sure game mechanics and graphics in FF are better but no pvp = a time waster for me.

I dont level up because i wanna destroy NPC

I level up because i want to destroy PEOPLE >:)
So sad firstly it's a mmo just like elder scrolls with pvp and with out the scam crates and *** has sadly for eso players a sub which elder scrolls players like to play for free but pay a premium for all the other crap
