If they were smart, they'd introduce cp180 gear. Everyone would be running like mad to get to it.
To keep this game relevant (reason the DLC are happening as it brings people back or keeps them from leaving) they need to keep introducing hooks to keep people on the line.
I'd say that since CP are still adding up (once past cp 630) and go into a pool for the time being, they plan on upping the limit again. Otherwise, I'd have to assume they'd have the hard cap at 210 for each tree i.e 210/210 instead of 215/210

... Who in their right mind wants to sit and farm all those sets that they have acquired again, but in CP180? I sure as hell don't want to farm VMA day in and day out again for new CP180 weapons, unless if it is a double drop for the Orsinium event (or something like that).
Plus, can you imagine how many materials it'll take for CP180 gear? If CP160 gear on average requires 120 to 150 pieces PER item, then CP180 gear would require 180 to 200 pieces per item. That's insane. Literally a stack of whatever the new material would be for say a chest or leg piece.

People accumulating too much gold and hoarding too many mats, have to enter in some gold and mat sinks.
Raising CP is a good way to go about it

If you could not upgrade existing gold crafted gear to CP180, I'd like to see them change the return rate of mats and gold improvement tempers if you only had the option to deconstruct themr.
I also assume that there would be new mats required for CP170/CP180 gear, like they did with CP150/160 gear.

Huge awesome for this. Only one way could I accept the itemlevel-raisal if they'd make it available to upgrade them without any grinding, just with materials obtainable for gold or AP.
How do the 80%+ BoE / BoP gear sets have anything at all to do with the economy, unless you're referring to people paying absurd amounts of gold for tempers and resins? If they were smart, they'd introduce cp180 gear. Everyone would be running like mad to get to it.

Agreed, and we need this soon. the economy is dying. most gear sets are now so cheap that it just takes 10 minutes picking flowers to be able to afford them. loot are worthless and people are grinding dungeons for scraps.
only very selective pieces are worth collecting and they sell at heavily inflated prices that new players are having a very rough time to afford thanks to the generally low loot value.

They could raise gear cap all day long if they provided a way to upgrade the gear level as easily as you can upgrade the quality. They need to introduce a way to transmog more than just the appearance of set piece.
If you're a master level crafter, there should be ways to upgrade level, change traits, perhaps even completely convert one set to another (with limited % chances, etc.) Let specific items be required for this, farmable, salable, and watch your precious economy soar.

You're asking Zenimax to release REAL Crafting?
Maybe in 2034 after the transmog release in 2028
