I got kicked from server for "messaging", and best of all, I don't send in-game messages !!
Have never messaged even one single word, but I get kicked ! LOL -
Probably it was only a once of glitch somewhere...Hopefully

You have been dropped from the server because you hit the message rate limit. Please avoid excessive messaging (i.e. spamming)"

That happens where there is some connectivity issue and the client on your end ends up queuing up a bunch of "messages" such as your movements. These messages are client/server communications, not emails or chats usually unless someone is truly spamming chat messages.

It often is a sign of a server problem, but could be some other localized issue causing the client to not properly communicate to the server. Unless it persists, just re-log in and go about your business. If it persists and you don't see a ton of posts on the forum about others having the issue I would open a support ticket.

Seems to happen to me about once a week, usually when scrolling through inventory or trying to turn in crafting writs in Craglorn. I'm definitely not messaging anyone at the time - in fact, of all the times I can think of it happening, never was actual messaging involved. Seems the server takes the data transfer/query as spam somehow, however, so I get hit with this and booted.

    It's annoying. /shrug

This can also happen if youre using some sort of gear change addon like alpha gear or dressing room, if you switching back and forth too quickly too many times you will get a warning and then this message.

I got this as a warning when switching back and forth between DressingRoom sets, which I found somewhat surprising since that addon does not actually message anything, at least nothing that I can see. Iakoni's Gear and Skill Changer does not have this problem.

So what are these mysterious messages?!

Basically, when you are changing sets/skills in Dressing room, you're changing a lot of gear and skills. This is like 10, 20 or maybe 30 'messages' to the server. Too much for it to handle, and you'll get kicked.

I've had it happen to once or twice... just a bug, was able to get back in right away - but def. annoying if it happens in the middle of a fight (which it did both times for me) resulting in loading back in to a dead character.

I've had this happen to me before; I unplugged Razer Naga Epic mouse, plugged it back in...wham! I received that error. After looking at the problem more, I discovered I needed to update my driver. Anyway -- if you do receive that error, I was able to log in again after about 5 or 10 minutes.

Yeah, just the norms of ESO, much as lagging and crashing. Probably same with all other MMO, but I wouldn't know.. You'll get use to it. Just relog in and re-game on.

It's because there's no timeout on queued 'messages' client-side, which is poor design.

No need to send my requests from 20 seconds ago, prior to server vomit, that likely no longer apply anyway.

Server connection finally snaps out of it, and it dumps everything through at once, thus violating the 'rate.'

It's the game, it nothing you're doing.

Still, Iakoni's can do it without problems. The mechanism is strange anyway: disconnect instead of throtteling...

Anyway, I wish they would add loadouts. 1st additional one for 100k gold, second 200k etc. Even being able to reskill a single skill line at the shrine is annoying, especially since CP can easily be changed.
