Question about damage shields and phys/spell resist

So hopefully this doesn't make me look stupid. Do resistances reduce the amount of damage being applied to your shields? So Hardy/Ele Defender from CPs, or the 5k increase from running Boundless Storm, or running reinforced traits on your armor...etc etc?

What I was thinking of trying out my magicka sorc is running 5pc Impreg, 5pc Amber, VMA weps with thief mundus...I can get my damage from running higher crit and sustain with amberplasm/DC. If the higher resistances do indeed reduce the dmg being done to my shields then I think I can drop Harness Magicka and run Boundless instead.

EDIT- I know at one point they did (I did a forum search), but people on Xbox1 are now telling me they don't anymore

Shields take full tooltip DMG. Resistance mitigation is applied after the shield is depleted.

Shields also cannot be crit on, so impen isn't calculated until after the shield goes down.

Only defense that is calculated before doing DMG to a shield, are % based mitigations (like thick skin/"reduce all DMG by 8%" based defense.

Hopefully my answer doesn't make me look stupid too. As far as I know, your physical and spell resistance...no, they have no effect reducing damage taken by shields. Boundless storm doesn't help, Reinforced doesn't help, critical resistance doesn't help.
Hardy and Elemental Defender are reductions to damage taken by different sources and they do reduce damage taken by shields, as do buffs like Major/Minor Protection.
