I'm confident enough to say that I know what I'm talking about
I know lore pretty good... But when it comes to ancient settlers of Tamriel or those Chimer and Ayleids, I have no idea.
I know all the provinces and in which one a specific race lives in! Is that lore?

Kind of the middle ground I guess? I know what I've learnt from the games and some of the research I have done out of games but my knowledge is far from a level I would feel confident talking in depth about it.

I read most of books in TES 3,4,5 and I was watching FudgeMuppet, Camelworks and ShoddyCast lore series on YT. I wouldn't call myself a loremaster, but I know enough to discuss about it and what true loremasters are talking about.

I've picked up on few things here and there but that's about it
I trifle not with lore experts. Except when it's funny, because I can't help it.

Not interested in lore should be an option. I've played too many games in the last 20 years to be bothered with game lore and my lack of interest has never impeded my gameplay in any way.

We'll maybe I'm not, but UESP is literally an encyclopedia and I know where to find the things people are asking about! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I know quite a bit about the khajiit and the "gods"(mainly the daedric princes, but also a bit about the Aedra).

Then I have some casual knowlege about the other races and lore.

I don't believe you. I am pretty sure you're actually some kind of advanced encyclopedic AI which spawned from the pooled knowledge on the UESP.

I mean I ask everyone, has anyone ever actually seen Enodoc, can we really be sure he's human?

I'm confident enough to say that I know what I'm talking about
I'm a bit shaky on the Dawn Era and Merethic Era and my knowledge generally is quite patchy but I know enough to follow most events in the games and understand the various books.

Which is a vast improvement from when I first started Morrowind and I had no idea about anything. All I knew was all my friends who liked RPGs were talking about how great it was (even claiming it was better than Baldur's Gate!). I had actually played a bit of Daggerfall once before but didn't realise until later it was the same series, since Daggerfall was introduced to me as "this great game with all these towns and forests and stuff and you make your own guy and just walk all around it doing stuff" - I tried to explain that RPGs were a whole genre but I don't think I ever quite got through to him.

Then I got in-game and people kept asking me if I followed the Divines or the Temple and there was this Empire who had conquered the locals and used secret agents to manipulate events but somehow they weren't evil and there were vampires and ash vampires which were somehow different and...so many things. I think the best illustration of how little I knew is that for a long time I thought the Aedra were bound or summoned Daedra - because people kept talking about 'good Daedra' and Aedra almost interchangeably (understandable now I know some people worship both) and the only good Daedra I could see were the ones summoned by mages.

But I muddled through it and I think I got there eventually. By the time Oblivion came out I knew enough that I found it much easier to follow the story.

I think I know a thing or two more than regular person playing TES, since I played TES games for 20y. Still, don't consider myself an elite or expert on it, and since lore was broken so many times by Bethesda and now Zos, I find it more than a fun fact stories than something set in stone, as proper lore should be, imho.

Currently putting my hundreds of hours of reading TES lore into DMing a ES tabletop RPG, only to find out yet again how much of the lore is still a blank page.
I Especially love the subjective nature of the myths and how good ones (subjectively) can be formed together into one's own headcanon, which in turn inspires people to create their own myths. Long live the monkey-truth!
