ESO.exe turns off my laptop

When I run game consultant the report.txt is blank so that's no help.
Windows 10 and Nvidia drivers all up to date. No other changes aside from updating to the latest patch. Already tried a repair from the Launcher.
Same laptop I've been using for the last year, quadcore i7 with 6 MB RAM, GeForce 540 M
NO matter whether I run from the .exe (32 bit or 64 bit), NA or EU servers, PTS or Live, after logging in the loading image appears but at some point my laptop simply turns off.
This does not happen with any other program. Any ideas?

✭✭✭I had a similar problem in the past where my laptop would shut down when playing ESO. My problem was my video card fan quit working and after a few minutes of playing ESO my computer would shut off because it got too hot.

Rolo42✭✭Echoing Emily, ensure fans, heatsinks, and vents are clean.
Next, ensure power is working properly; ESO will draw far more power than running application programs--this includes your battery, even if it is plugged in.1 -
m2super_ESO✭✭Try a repair, if as above suggestions it is a heat related issue they sell laptop coolers (basically seat laptop on it and a fan blows into the laptop to increase cooling efficiency) and give that a go.1

Thanks, @vamp_emily I immediately checked all that out and realized you were correct, of course. I am a pc tech and never look at my own toys the way I do others.
Since the GPU but not CPU fan wasn't working I gave the laptop as a "gift" to someone who plays an Aldmerri elf nerd. That's the real meta. Trojan hardware pranks.
Got me a nice new laptop with a Gforce 940MX. Seems servicable, since mmost of what I used PCs for is audio DSP and not gaming and ESO isn't terribly taxing.0 -
