I'm no lore junkie...but Tamriel does have 12 months. The 7th month is still considered "mid-year"; please note it doesn't say "middle year".
According to the Webster's Dictionary, "mid" is defined as "being the part in the middle or midst". While "middle" is defined as "equally distant from the extremes".
