This sounds bad but I can't figure out how to get into pvp maps

Someone told me to click L, which I did, and then I found the different choices on the left, which I then clicked one, and from there I still can't figure out how to actually get into an actual fight. Nothing I've found actually explains it. I did see two choices of Home and something else. Is that one of the things you choose?

Yeah, I know, this sounds clueless, and I'm fine with it. The interface just doesn't give a lot of information. Nor do the choices for the missions themselves either.
Clueless, but willing to learn.

Choose a pvp Cyrodil campaign as either your home or guest then press E to enter, at which point the game will send you an invite to enter that campaign.

After you select the campaign on the left something appears to the right showing population and whatever. Left click and select to enter the campaign, selecting it as home or guest probably comes first.

That will queue you and follow the prompts as they come. Ususalky takes a few seconds.

Ok first what lvl are you ?

If you are below lvl 50 then click on the Below level 50 server, make it your home, you can now go to that sever and fight.

If you are max level, then make any of the other servers your home or guest. Vivec being meta for most, it includes using your CP (champion points). The other severs are non-cp.

That should get u in :)

So first off you need to pick a campaign by pressing "L" - you then need to decide on which campaign will be your home campaign, I don't know all the particulars of home vs guesting other than that you're locked into a home campaign for the duration, you can guest to another campaign if needed but you don't progress on a guest campaign.

Once you've decided on a campaign by clicking on it you then need to queue into that campaign, the time it takes to do so depends on your playtime and the population count within (indicated by bars or a lock icon for a full campaign), if the campaign is full you'll join the queue.

Once your queue pops you'll have an option to teleport into the campaign, I can't recall the shortcut off the top of my head.

Once within your campaign, do the starter introduction quest first, it'll run you through the basics. Note you don't use a wayshrine to travel, you use the transitus network shrine (a rectangular pillar with blue flame). If you want to leave Cyrodill you need to return to your faction home area and use the wayshrine to port out of to another map.

Select Campaigns and look at the list. If you scroll through, and highlight each campaign there is a description of what the primary objectives are and if it's Non-CP or CP.

You have Home and Guest as your options.

Home : this is the campaign where your toons will participate in the leaderboard rankings. Basically, get AP, and you move up on those boards.

Guest : this is your secondary choice campaign, your toons will not be participating in the leaderboard rankings, but you may choose to play in this campaign and earn AP regardless.

You can re-assign these 2 options to different campaigns at any time, or at the end of the campaign cycle. However, if you re-assign them you must pay a fee to do so.

Expert to die quite a lot in the begining you are fighting humans not brainless NPC. The best alternative is to join a guild that does regular pvp, then you can get the help you may need.

It was a legitimate inquiry. Absolutely nothing wrong with asking a question on the forums. You have nothing of value to add and you come off as obnoxious. How about trying to be more welcoming to newer members of the community?

I might as well throw this out there, PvPers get asked this question a lot; When you leave PvP, you do not use the central wayshrine, that sends you to keeps. You want to use the wayshrine located in the back of the alliance base to leave PvP.

No one appointed you arbiter of life lessons. No one asked you to "teach" anyone anything. Your obvious need to feel important and superior is repugnant. You are part of the toxicity that plagues these forums. Glad the OP got the responses to his query.

You come here with this white knight speech, stereotyping me as toxic and repugnant, and now I'm the one looking for superiority? Look to yourself on the mirror mate, you no better then anyone here.

Believe me. You don't want to find out about the PvP maps. Cyrodiil is a cesspool of the most horrible, toxic and salty players ESO has to offer.

The problem is that several of the abilities that my character needs can ONLY be obtained by going through PVP. I don't want to do it, but they've locked off certain abilities so that you can only get them that way.

Actually we are people just like you but happen to like a different game mode.

@sarbonn make sure to take the time to do the Into the cyrodiil training quest. It takes about 5 minutes, will get you 1-2 skill pts and get you to rank 2 in alliance war. Everyone dies a lot in pvp so do not let it get to you, especially in the beginning. Try joining a group you will get more AP that way and might have more fun as well.

I feel your pain OP. I wanted to get to IC so I looked it up on google "how to get to IC" and then got the answer "after you get to Cyrodiil, first you..." and couldn't figure out how to get to Cyrodiil.

I didn't even realize there's a menu for that. I looked "how to get to Cyrodiil" up a few times and none of the guides was noob enough to mention "you know, there's a menu, just press L on pc". Although the top result says:

The fastest way to enter Cyrodiil is to use your Character menu. Choose Alliance War tab and you will see a list of campaigns. To find out more about Campaigns read this guide: Campaigns in ESO. Each Campaign is an independent instance of Cyrodiil where limited number of players is fighting.

I really, really thought Character menu = C, the character information menu. So you know. And it doesn't help that activity finder has a tab for that too, so I just assumed that's how you are supposed to get there, but mine didn't work and I didn't know why (I didn't set my home Campaign), and I sort of just gave up there and did something more fun.

As for video guides...I'm one of the few people that absolutely hate watching video guides and prefer written ones, so I didn't even think of trying Youtube.

So one day, I accidentally pressed L. And loled for 10 minutes.

The pvp set up screen is really badly implemented for newcomers. Seen so many people ask similar questions both on here and in-game. It's not entirely obvious what the hell does what. I struggled with it at first too. Eventually clicked any old *** and ended up in a campaign.
