Crown Store Quest Category

I saw this category browsing the store and wondering, since i only saw the mini quest for getting the house.

Just curious if there's any plans to add more to this category. I wouldn't mind spending money on something like that, rather than cosmetics, furnitures, and mounts etc.

This is definitely on my wishlist in between major DLC's and expansions, as the current dailies and pledges get very boring after a while.

Things like:
* More Quest givers like the one Fighters guild one in Cyrodiil. Simple quest of just killing X number of this and that in Y area.
* Longer quests across Tamriel, for a neat reward.
* Random daily quest givers across the entire map, that you encounter in the wilderness. Tamriel is so dead after you completed Cadwell's gold.
* Quests linked to some of the achievements to get you going on those. (Fishing, Trophy hunter, justice etc etc)
* Quests linked to crafting, gathering certain resources?

There's a lot to do here, and dailies become boring after a while.

There was a post previously about this.

Currently you'll see quests pop up here when we get events.

I'm not a fan of monetizing singular quests or quest lines. I feel those are better left to be purchased with the zone they are in.

Well, mounts and outfits doesn't add any gameplay value at all. And entire DLC's takes ages to develop, so for those of us who like questing should have something to do in between.

It's about giving life back to tamriel after Cadwell's Gold is completed. The entire map is dead, with nothing going on except for a few dailies and pledges to repeat over and over.

The main reason I go on longer ESO breaks, is because there's nothing to do until the next DLC/Expansion comes out, unless you like grinding.

I agree. While an interesting method of monetization, it would probably drive people away. In the end, it might end up being development work that would have been more profitable if spent elsewhere.

How would this content drive people away? It's like mini DLC's with things to do, using existing content, so they don't have to spend time creating assets. Maybe i quest line writer and some voice actor tops.

It's just adding some more daily stuff to do for people who don't like to much repetition. More dailies to chose from, instead of the few we have now.

Echoing MissBizz, I don't think selling quests outside of DLC/Expansions is a great idea.

SWTOR once put some story "quests" in their Cartel Crates (Crown Crates) and it didn't go down well at all. These were not even content but just story clips.

Generally I think communities in MMO games expect playable quest content to be served in normal release ways, some games have sold quest packs (like DDO) but these were still a standard format and offered a series of quests like a DLC does not just single quest purchases.

Also how does this reflect on our already shaky ESO+ promise of access to all the games content under a subscription.

There are a number of ways.

First, if the quests are not covered by ESO Plus, then ESO Plus people would be upset at having to spend 500-1000 Crowns on a quest that should have been included.

Second, even if covered by ESO Plus, people will (correctly) interpret it as a cash grab by separating out content that should have come as part of a full DLC. So, instead of selling a DLC with quests for 2500 Crowns, they sell a DLC with a few quests for 2500 Crowns and more quests for more Crowns.

Third, quest rewards. They have to be very careful what they hand out for one-off Crown Store/ESO Plus quests. If they create a controversy over quest rewards, there will be people who throw in the towel.

Now, like I said, it is an interesting method of monetization. As part of the status quo, it is late in the game to be adding such things to the Crown Store. If they had started out doing this, things would be different.

There is one exception. Creation Club. If they can get outside modders to write quality quests, with the assistance and QA testing from ZOS, they could potentially sell these things without causing a great deal of conflict. Provided they pay attention to #3, above.

I think it could be treated like every other DLC. Included in ESO plus, but on a miniature scale, using existing content, for a faster turnout. Those without ESO plus could buy it, those with could access it.

I can just speak for myself, but i like quests, delves, dungeons, and regular group content. Not so much PvP, and Trials, and the wait between bigger DLC's and expansions is to great, so why not populate the world with some more things to do, instead of just farming, and grinding?

Buyable by Crown coins if you're interested or accessable to ESO plus members if you're subscribing.

I'm not asking for extensive elaborate quest lines. Just a bit more variety in the dailies, AND giving back some life to Tamriel post main quest completion. (Cadwell's gold). Tamriel is completely sterile after main quest completion. An empty void of scenery and nothing and a few daily quests and pledges to repeat over and over.

I worry ZOS would half-ass the regular dlc quests, whether by making the dlc quests short, or by leaving us on cliff hangers - want to find out if Raz survives your decision? Buy the next quest pack now!

Plus cost - specialized, à carte quests will cost more to buy, per quest, than regular dlc. I'm not a fan of that idea.

(I spend most of my time questing, mat farming, and dungeoning, and have finished 13 of 17 main zones, iirc. I agree that dailies get boring, but I don't know how ZOS can improve on that.)

They could add more of them, Lot's of them. All over the Tamriel. Random events, mini quests, random daily quests scattered all across. Not only in 3 major cities. They can add them to Old places you completed.

For example I visited Skuldafn in Eastmarch yesterday. A place i completed ages ago. It's completely empty. What's the point with all these great locations if you only visit once then never even go there any more?

Once you complete a place, they could add some quest givers at ever place, for more things to do. Like I said. Tamriel is completely Sterile after you completed all the main content. Nothing going on anywhere, except for a few dailies.
