Magica Warden-Force Pulse or Screaming Cliff racer?

I'm curious what other wardens are running. The bird seems to hit so slowly but it is un-dodgeable and it heals. Any help in determining which is better is greatly appreciated.

For PvE, neither, for PvP cliff racer.

For PvP use both. Deep Fissure -> Cliff Racer -> Force Pulse. Because fissure takes 3 seconds to go off and because cliff raced takes a couple seconds to hit the target while force pulse is instant, all 3 attacks hit the opponent at the same time. It's excellent burst.

What do I use for PVE then?

Screaming Cliff Racer is a better option for DPS. It deals more damage and costs less.

For PvP, use either Screaming Cliff Racer or both.

I struggle to sustain a spammable in PvE and get better results using Destructive Clench instead of Cliff racer.

Also @bubbygink that's a great point, thanks for correcting me!

But clench isn't a spammable. So are you only using heavy attacks as the spammable? Warden has enough dots; I can see how it would be viable.

In PvP I use both: Cliff Racer for an undodgeable spammable and Crushing Shock for when I need that interrupt

PvE: Cliff Racer for the damage buff from range and from the passive (2% for each Animal Companion skill slotted)

@s7732425ub17_ESO (gd your name is hard) oh it's plenty viable, just clench has the dot which can be very beneficial. It's all about preference in this case imo

Personally I like Crushing Shock on my Warden, just for the ranged interrupt in dungeons and raids. I could see the 'both' idea being cool for burst, as people have posted.

Clench is fine as a DOT. But I'm saying don't use it as a spammable.

It's much more expensive than other spammables. It does lower damage than other spammables. It has less range than other spammables.

add proximity detonation and then you have a 4 hit burst

The combination of Force Pulse and Winter's Revenge with the Glacial Presence passive is amazing. I am using this for leveling and it works great. Even better when you use Arctic Blast as well. This turns Force Pulse into a pretty nice and very cheap AoE skill.

Force pulse was made for Wardens. The guaranteed chill status makes it AoE every time. You can't do that with sorcerers or DKs like Wardens can.

I have a three elemental build in my signature with 5 Winterborn, 2 Illambris and 4 Moondancer with a charged staff and a shock enchant. Just used it in vMoL. It wasn't top dps, but it was more than enough to not be a burden on the group, + you apply all three elemental status effects all the time, buffing blockades of fire, force pulse with aoe and slow adds constantly through chilled.

    Very fun build!

Arctic blast is way too expensive, and so is clench, scalding rune etc. I use swarm by now as it is a Lot cheaper and gives you about 200 sustain per second.

Swarm doesn't do AoE damage, Arctic Blast does. And when you want to AoE Chill your enemies it works great, plus the additional self healing. It might be not for DPS builds in dungeons but for solo content it's great.

    Yep!

The chill applies to warden skills from that tree only btw. Force pulse doesn't (or shouldn't) benefit from it at all. If it does benefit from it, it's a bug.

And it is not guaranteed. 200% increased chance means that the Base chance gets multiplied by 2.

    Status effects work like this:

Chance to Apply=(Base Chance)*(1+Sum of % Increases), with a destro staff (100%), charged (220%) and using a warden's winter's embrace skill (200%) we'd have (Base Chance)*(1+1+2+2.2). For winter's revenge that'd be 10% Base chance for the initial hit and 1% for the subsequent hits, so

64% for the initial hit and 6.4% chance to apply chilled on every tick.

Without charged it'd be 42%. This is from prior patchnotes, so it's accurate.

I'd like it if they buffed the passive to apply for all status effects and skills. And also changed Arctic blast to scale off of magicka or stamina, whichever on is higher.

while leveling up, I wouldn't worry about the build so soon. I suggest getting all the skills ready to be morphed, and to lvl 50 before worrying about build. While I was grinding up my levels, I had multiple different weapon skill lines on one bar to level up the abilities/weapon skill line. That way I had a few options once I got to lvl 50.

In the end, I would go with both, as that is excellent burst damage

Birds do more damage than force pulse.

But the interrupt of crushing shock is useful at times in trials, dungeons, and PvP.

    And it is not guaranteed.

Force Pulse profits from the Chilled effect.

And it's not guaranteed, you're right, but you have so many frost damage that it will apply. Right now I just have Arctic Blast on my bars and Force Pulse is most times an AoE skill. The proc rate is very high and it's worth it. For leveling and AoE in (low) dungeons it's beyond amazing. When you use the Ice Shards and Sleet Storm as well your enemies will be perma chilled and your Force Pulse will always do AoE damage.
