Third boss? Is that the Planar Inhibitor? It's been awhile since I did White Gold Tower but that fight wasn't too hard the last time I did it.

Third boss would be the Planar Inhibitor if my memory isn't wrong: the bane of many, many random groups. Check guides for the mechanics (which you need to follow unless your group has stellar dps). Have a ranged attack at hand, even if it's just a bow or rest.staff heavies.

That's the boss that seperates the men from the boys :p

It's really all about teamwork and survivability here: activate the pinion when it's up, close the portals when your screen goes grey and stay close to the pinion.

    Just keep at it

It's a relatively complicated battle, But in my experience it's often made far more complicated by players with convoluted ideas about how to fight it. Players defeat themselves with maddening tactics more so than the Planar Inhibitor does.

The most common one: If your tank is kiting it around slap them sane and tell them to stop. The only time this needs to happen is when the Atronach is bathed in blue flame. Otherwise get them to stand still. Your damage dealers can't damage if very well if the tank is always moving it out of their ground targeted spells and feats.
If you can be anything, be kind.

No all bosses in the game are very easy if you follow the mechanics. There is almost no boss that does something surprising which could lead to a wipe. Most ppl just burn her nowadays if you can't do that, pick the pinion 1 by 1 destroy the portals, and trade the pinion more on cooldown during her white phase.

This game got so nerfed when Icp and Wgt were introduced many ppl didn't had any chance to beat it. Now they've been nerfed 2 or 3 times and it is doable to solo both dungeons
(you need someone for the levers in Icp)

This boss is very hard on the first few attempts but once you and your group understand the mechanics it becomes much easier.

This requires the whole group to know exactly what to do and when - if one of your group doesn't know it then the whole group will struggle badly !

    Good luck :)

Let the tank take the pinion at the start of the fight, stand in the middle with the Boss and nuke him. No one else takes pinions or destroy portals. The Inhibitor is dead before the blue phase, you dont have to play the mechanics there.

Edit: 80k group dps is needed for that.

Let the tank take the pinion. The tank holds the "aggro" of the pinion until the boss burst into blue flames. When that happens someone else Closes the pinion (do not use the pinion Before "blue phase"). When the pinion reopens again someone else takes it ASAP. After blue phase you should be able to burst boss down. The main problem in many Groups is that the tank who pulls aggro starts to run around with the boss. Stand as still as possible (unless boss turns blue then RUN xD) and let your healer outheal the flame damage.

Did you read about strategies for this dungeon before going in or you just jumped (possibly as part of random dungeon finder) in and hoped for best?

For third boss, Planar Inhibitor, you take two approaches, either stack and burn or play the mechanics. In mechanics play every group member grabs the pinion one after another to lessen damage done by Inhibitor DOT. With that, there is a risk that tank when he is not fixed by Inhibitor will need to close portals.

First and most important. Whoever touches the pinion in middle of room gets "Inhibitor fix" which is basically aggro. While they have Inhibitor fixed on them they will never have to kill portals.

Periodically, person that does not hold Inhibitor aggro will have their screen turn grey "moth vision" and they will be able to attack daedric portals. They must be destroyed ASAP or you will get swarmed by adds. The difficulty here comes from the fact that healers might be confused and have no DPS abilities to close portals (even tho one vamp's bane is sufficient or resto heavy attack) and same with Tanks who are last person with DPS capabilities.

With portals closed, after enough time passes Inhibitor will switch from red flame to blue flame phase. In red flame phase Inhibitor should be kept still. The fire around him does barely anything. Whoever has aggro should stay still (whereas most DPS or Healers if they get aggro they start running around and waste everyones DPS). In blue flame phase it's different. When that happens, whoever has Inhibitor fix must run far and fast. Blue inhibitor flame will generally one shot anybody, person chased gets constant damage on them they are slowed down all the way to being stuck in place. At this point, as soon as Pinion activates again it has to be used by next person.

    Rinse and repeat...

The second strategy is "stack and burn". With good healer, strong tank and high dps tank can activate pinion and hold Inhibitor's aggro for whole fight. With enough DPS, Inhibitor will die before enough adds will spawn (yes you ignore portals there). Occasionally blue fire phase might start but boss should be almost dead at this point and switch wont be nessesary.

The best method might still be the so called "tank down" (at best without tank down) tactics. Tank grabs the Inhibitor and keeps her til she goes blue. Then someone grabs aggro from the pylon in the middle asap and draws her somewhere to a wall. Then another grabs aggro again and pulls her to the opposite side. You do that as long as she resets the blue flame phase (vanishes in the ground followed by an AoE). While you do that you still have to do your portal phases. Below 50% you get double portal phases, usually one alone can do them though.

Formerly you were able to nuke her down by ignoring even portal phases in a good group, now you maybe need to do some. While you do single portal phases you should be still able to attach dots to her as a DD.

The disdvantage with the tank down tactics is that the tank might get a portal phase in the stage when another has aggro.

Another method is, that the tank has DD gear and goes full DD. Then the aggro must be switched continously from one to the other to spread her dot equally.

For both tactics you need some dps. The difficulty of that encounter scales directly to your group dps. An often watched mistake is that people draw her around the whole place, making it hard to deliver dps for melee DDs and pulling her out of all gound dots. You just need to avoid her when she goes blue, til then stand still, besides her dot she hits like wet noodle. Til the blue phase it should be healable.

It will be hard for groups whose DDs think light attacking delivers enough dps and where tanks and healers have no clue what a warhorn is.

The key for this encounter is to do so much dps, that she resets her blue flame phase fast enough (health dependant I think, can't remember the right values).

When it first came out a friend of mine stayed there for literally 30+ hours going through many good players yet he didn't manage to pass that boss(that time). And he is a great player. He got it afterwards but it took effort and a lot of hard work. By now it's been nerfed SO many times...it's even been soloed. C'mon.

There're exactly 3 things you have to pay attention to in this fight. THREE. Outside of those things you don't even need to move(running her around is actually a bad idea as it lowers the dps). One is closing portals. It's not hard. You can do it with like 10k dps just fine, probably less even. You just gotta pay attention and when your screen goes white you go and kill portals. The other is pinion. If your group dps is high enough you just let tank hold her til blue phase, otherwise you exchange the pinion, everyone closes it in turns. It's also not hard. See it open? Go there, close it, then just stand still somewhere and dps boss. The last one is blue stage, during this stage the person who has agro (the one who's closed pinion last) has to run away from her and someone else has to close pinion. It's also not hard. Watch for the pinion and as soon as it opens(in blue stage it's extremely important because she will snare and eventually kill the person she's chasing...unless they streaking magsorc of course) go close it. Then run. Dodge, streak, shield, stuff until either blue stage is over or someone else takes her off you.

It takes some trying, but no, it doesn't need nerfs. If anything it needs buffs. I remember the great feeling of challenge completed back when you actually had to get on voicechat and call out who's closing pinion because there was no burning her and no making mistakes on that fight. I really wish we had more mechanics heavy fights like this in dungeons.

After they nerfed the second boss beyond any measure, it's just the last boss which has some difficulty. Having at least one DD who can do some decent dps from range makes it easier. The boss is still a wind-up for melee DDs.

As with all boss fights in this game, as more dps as easier it will get, because he will enter the image phase before he actually lifts up in the air and you have to find your portals.

If you have a decent tank and pretty good dps you can just have your tank hold the pinion until the planar's fire goes blue, then one of the dd's takes the pinion and goes back and forth with the tank while running in one direction away from the other players. Then you should be able to finish her off when she gets stunned for a few seconds, or shortly after that.

This tactic prevents the tank from getting portals (most of the time) which can be pretty deadly

WGT is the easiest of the hard dungeons, the first boss just needs a tank that can make the boss look the other way. The second bosses are so easy no mechanics even needed.

The inhibitor should also be easy if you just take turns on pinion and take out portals with long range attack, even the weakest ones do the job.

Molag kena on nomral veteran mode is pretty easy, just dodge roll the lighting and dps then take out the mages when needed and stay away from then when they die.

Yeah, vWGT when it IC first launched was almost impossible. Right now though it is relatively easy. But just like most dungeons, if you're in with an inexperience group it WILL be difficult. I think the only thing that you can consider "hard" in 4-man dungeons is vCoS, maybe vRoM. But definitely vCoS, especially when pugging.

    Ermagerd, it's heard at ferst.

Seriously, the biggest thing with this one is a coordinated group.

A few tips that have worked well for us:
    • Voice comms - way easier to coordinate this way, to convey half a dozen different things during fight.
    • Voice comms - seriously, this fight gets easier by a factor of 10 if you can talk. You won't have time to use text chat.
    • Have the tank keep boss stationary-ish. About half way out from middle is good.
      • This allows some movement for tank (stepping out of red).
      • This allows AoE's to damage boss.
      • This gives next pinion guy some breathing room/distance before the boss is on his tail.
      • Stand near, but not on the pinion. This keeps AoE's from getting dropped right near where the next person will need to be.
      • Always stay moving. Easier to avoid things that drop where you were, vs were you are.
    • Take turns.
      • Easiest to go between the two DPS and tank for pinion duty. That way the healer can strictly heal.
      • Go away (if not tank), but not too far. DPS can still do damage this way and you're still in range of heals.
      • Wait until NPC announces "Smash those rifts" or "My spell has revealed..." before taking pinion from tank. This ensures someone else (not tank) has moth vision, as tank DPS is usually not that high.
      • Call out when you have vision! Remember those comms?
        • If you have vision, portals are your only job.
        • Sometimes, you'll have to wait a sec for one to spawn so you can burn it. This is normal. DPS the boss a little and keep looking around.
        • If you were next in the pinion queue, your group skips to the next group member.
        • As soon as portals are cleared, you grab the next pinion (resume your spot in queue.)
        • Call out when portals are clear.
      • Portals, portals, portals. It only takes about a heavy attack and a half to close one. Ranged anything, even shield charge if you're stam works too.
      • Take the pinion off someone asap when she is blue or they will die.
Watch for the super snare, grab it before then!
        • Mobility helps here. Streak, Lightning Form, Rapids, Twisting Path, Roll Dodge...When she's blue and on you, your purpose in life is staying alive and staying away. Don't kite her towards your group members. Group members, don't step in front of the blue!
        • Equip a shield, any shield. Harness is great for magicka characters, use what you can for stamina (class shield, etc).
      • If you get a couple ads, don't panic. Kite them, CC them, AoE them, Single Target them. Deal with them quickly, but when you can. Especially keep them off your healer.
      • If someone drops, rez when she goes underground.

This fight has an RNG factor (who gets vision) and timing will depend on mobility available, and how much/how long each of you can eat damage from the boss when you have aggro.

Ideally, find the distance that lets you pass her back and forth like a tennis match, communicate, and this fight becomes very manageable.

Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

I have to agree that WGT is the easiest of the hard DLC dungeons, but is not really by any means easy. It can be quite a bit easier if you have monster DPS and can ignore much of the mechanics. I still cringe every time it comes up as a random daily for me. The inhibitor is usually the breaking point for pugs.

ICP is much easier if you run past all the adds, because there's loads of super tanky adds that take some time to burn down and it's already a long dungeon run.

Third boss? Is that the Planar Inhibitor? It's been awhile since I did White Gold Tower but that fight wasn't too hard the last time I did it.

Then you obviously did it in a Guild group or something. Cause otherwise, unless everyone knows the fight really well, PuGs almost never make it past that boss.

I only did vWGT with pugs, done it like 20 times, about 9 in hm, it's completely doable if you explain mechanics and you have a team that does not completely suck. In fact, Molag Kena is imo harder than planar inhibitor. Planar's difficulty is mostly based around the mechanics... Kena requires players to have at least a decent amount of survivability and sustain

I dont think its a hard fight. I completed it on vet when i was low CP and all it really takes is some mechanics. People are used to stack and burn mechanics and vWGT is a step up from that mechanic. You need people who actually know part of the mechanics for the fight in order to complete it, once youre done with that the last boss is much easier.

When DB got out these dungeons got nerfed. Now I tank them with DW heavy Epic armor stamdk.

Level up a bit. Farm materials. Get legendary armor and enjoy vWGT and vICP. You'll do it.
