In every other MMO or RPG I played max level is max level, you have access to all max level skills and whether you have to make choices of what to pick or you get them all they are there.

What is very annoying and tedious about ESO is that grinding you way to max level leaves you so far behind on skill trees and skill points etc. Yes the story and the quests and exploration can be fun the first time you do them, but by the third character it really become a chore that you must do that makes maxing out your character take much longer than any other MMO.

I really believe that at least the skyshards should be account wide once the character hits level 50 he gets all the skyshard skill points the account has, Also skill trees like fighter's guild, mages' guild, undaunted and alliance should be account wide.

While that still won't fix the quests skillpoints and the other skill trees that need to be leveled, this would be a huge quality of life improvement just like the account wide CP was.

I know there are many people here who want everything to take longer for no reason at all, but you guys need to take it easy a bit, there are many other grinding and time wasting alternatives in this game so fixing this shouldn't ruin your life.

Leveling skills is great. It isn't "no reason at all". It is because many of use aren't here for "end game." We are here for the RPG.

I get your point though. I have 5 max level characters and have others I am still leveling out of compulsion more than anything else. For some reason I want a max level stam & magicka for each class though I barely do any end game content and only PvP with a guild that usually has a full group. When I finish Morrowind with one character, I'll probably try to get my max-level magicka sorc ready for more than muling and crafting. He was v2 a long time ago, but has a major skill point shortage and needs to level a lot of skills.

I level by questing thru the startislands, the first zones then mage fighters and half the main line. Those all provide pretty quick cycling rewarding quests great for leveling and so forth.

That leaves the longer playtime quests and doc zones available for meter after full co reached.

I hate grinding. Closest I come are repeatable thefts to get to TG 4th.

What RPGs have you played? In Skyrim, you have to grind out skills to 100 or you can't access buffs. You can hit max level while still not able to unlock stuff in the constellation thingie. Perhaps you wrote this sentence on feeling and didn't actually take inventory of games you have played.

SWTOR, WoW, Diablo 3 those are the ones that come to the top of my head that have max levels.

SWTOR and WoW are the main competitors of ESO so I guess its a valid comparison, I dont know about guild wars havent played it yet

This is interesting. The problem here is two-fold:

    1 ) PvP'ers not wanting to PvE.

    2) PvE'ers, typically being more MMO purist, are generally opposed to leveling shortcuts.

So in other words, you can't appease one group without offending the other.

It's like the middle east conflict except with video games.

    Don't grind...problem solved.

What is the hurry? There isn't some super amazing late game you have to build towards. Okay fine you have done these same quests 12 times but I don't see how that is more boring than killing a million zombies.

Both are boring, but one takes 6 hours and one takes 100 hours, its obvious people dont level by grinding because its fun.

I enjoy leveling alts 2 if each class 1 stam 1 mag.
Spacing them out every few/several months so questing isnt bad... gotta do mainstory quests for skill points anyway, never been fond of the grinding method when i have to turn back around and do all the main quests anyway.

Sounds like you're just used to the standard vanilla themepark formula of having skills tied to levels and classes with limited skills. There are many other MMOs that tie skill progression to use of those skills separate from levels or do a hybrid of both. Typically they also let you branch out and mix and match class and classless skills or have no classes at all.

I like this system better but then, I'm in no hurry to chase the meta. I get there when I get there and that's fine with me.

Play the game and quit whining. Grinding a toon and getting 2 zones of skyshards will give sufficient skill points to have all your passive skill and the skills you want on your bars plus morphs.

I like the fact a toon that grinds to 50 is inferior to a main who has been through all the zones from a skill points perspective.

Only thing I would change asap is how morphs leveling works. We need to be able to change skill morphs on the fly, and all XP gained should lvl both morphs at once. This would reduce a lot of grinding time for mere XP and give us more time for a grindfest for gear.

If you want to have access to skills on alts then grind for it. Simple as that. The grind now days on alts is NOTHING like it was in the vr rank days. Consider yourself lucky.

Lots of people seem to want everything just handed to them. Maybe ZoS should make a new MMORPG that you start at max level on every character with BiS gear.

if you want to run in a train getting carried by group aoe spam in dolmens you get what you earn

if you play the whole game, follow quests explore zones and play the $$%^#^%$ game then you get your moneys worth and you get the skills you need and you LEARN HOW TO PLAY YOUR CLASS

Grinding should never be the basis on which the pace of advancement is set by developers. It is by its nature a shortcut to the endgame for a veteran player's alts, whereas the leveling structure should be set around a new player's first-time advancement through the game.

If grinding levels has the disadvantage of failing to provide the associated skill and attribute increases that go with playing the game then that ought to tell us more about the futility of grinding than it tells the developers about the pace of advancement if the game is played the way they intended.

Making everything like skyshards account-wide is no solution to the problem at all. Once a player has done everything once he will have no reason ever to do it again and will either stay and complain about the lack of things to do or else move on to another game.

I've grinded two alts to 50 and had 0 issue with skyshards or skill points.

Do mq, guild quests, two or so zones of shards. Done. Takes a day, tops.

Grinded my templar from 20 to 50, then quested :)
My warden has been no grinding outside of using extra time in public dungeons.
Will probably do some dolmen grinding for skills then random dungeons so I level undaunted too.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I know, I was playing the game back then and almost quit and the only thing that kept me in the game was the hope of removal of VRs.

I got one character to max level and didnt even consider leveling another one.

Thats not a good thing and even now it could still use some quality of life improvements

They will never 'account wide' mount speed because they make too much money on it... I'm a prime example, I cannot create a new character without having the mount speed maxed, and I tend to create/delete a lot of characters. Probably why I've spent almost, if not above, $4k in this game so far. At least with the introduction of Race change, it hasn't been so bad, except for Warden now, currently working on Warden number three. ;)

Leveling a character is not really a big deal you can go as slow or as fast as you want, the biggest pain in the a@#$ is leveling the mages guild skill line in getting all those lore books.

Well that is cause you are a magika character, to Stamina characters leveling fighters guild is also a mega pain along with trying to get vigor and caltrops for PvE players or PvP players getting undaunted.

That is not even considering the gear grind, but i guess this should be fair if RNG was a bit better.

In general this game is the most pain getting a character to competitiveness compered to other MMOs.
