the ayelid ruins themed room occasionally will have an event where you kill waves of awfually weak and awfully slow spawning undead skeletons and colossuses to gain a chest at the end (lootable by whole group)

Yep, there is an event that spawns here - waves of undead with a chest at the end. It has a pretty long respawn timer, and it's hardly worth the time it takes to defeat it.

Yep, there is an event that spawns here - waves of undead with a chest at the end. It has a pretty long respawn timer, and it's hardly worth the time it takes to defeat it.

I just couldn't find anything on the internet regarding this room and since it's been empty every single time, I figured it was just left empty by the devs.
Especially since the campaign I'm in currently, the <50 one, is almost always empty in the sewers and the IC.
Seems like I'm just always there at a time where it was done already.
Well, guess I'll just have to visit it more often to actually see that event triggering.
Are there any requirements for it tho? Or can I just walk in there and it will eventually trigger?

It starts with a few normal undead mobs standing near the small platform - you kill them to start the gauntlet event. Good luck, I imagine it will be tough to solo in the <50 no-CP simply because it's easy to get overrun if you don't burn the mobs fast.
