So where are the children in Morrowind?

There's a quest in Morrowind (can't remember the name) and the NPC is talking about their two children, one of them is 8 years old. I thought kids didn't exist in ESO?

Now that you mentioned it I don't ever remember seeing any kids in ESO. Lame. Maybe 1, the prince in MA

The kids are all in the toilet. At least, I assume they are but I'll only be able to confirm that when I find a toilet...

Yeah the furries that kept trying to Visit the kids at the Children's hospital my daughter works at gave a similar rational, lets just say that after doing quick bg checks cops were called.

But why? What did they serve purpose for? Quests that a lot of people won't even do? Stay at my house and stare at me awkwardly? I legit don't understand. All of my characters would be horrible parents. They would probably abandoned them in Cyrodiil.
Immersion. And we aren't asking for adoptable children, just children existing in the world. There are many NPCs in relationships in Tamriel, I'm sure some of them have kids.

That is a fairly high cost for immersion. Unless there is a game play reason to have children, they will probably not add them to the game.

All the children went to the farm upstate. Where all the children can frolic and play all day long.

    everyone know that, duh.

They reproduce by fission. The "children" are fully grown from the start.

Thats the only explanation I can come up with. Same sex monogamous marriages dont produce children.

    Where is new content? Sigh.

It's a legal issue. Some countries have strict restrictions when it comes to violence against children in video games.

Having children in a video game where one can pretty much kill any NPC would mean a limited market for ZOS to sell the game and thus potentially huge revenue losses.

This has nothing to do with lore and everything to do with $$$ ...

Obviously somebody made a deal with clavicus vile to protect all children in Tamriel from harm and Vile did so by making it so all children became adults physically, therefore being unable to be harmed as children

Yeah, but this is an MMO, not a single player game. ZOS can easily make the kids "green NPCs" and not subject to justice system, assassinations, pick pocketing, etc. They also control the appearance and actions of the kids. They can easily comply with any laws.

The reason that they won't do it is is technical and financial. They have to create models, animations, and textures for children. They have to write and then hire voice actors for dialog. Done properly, they aren't just scaled down adults. They can't go into the world editor and just set the scale to "0.5" and be done with it. All of that costs money and takes up space on the player's hard drive.

Your last comment is really the reason. It is everything to do with $$$. Without a business reason, and that means a compelling reason for them to be in the game, there is no reason for them to bother.

It's starting to creep me out a bit at how much players are actively asking about whether or not there are children NPC's in the game. I personally would prefer that they not be in the game, as the children in Skyrim were fairly annoying. The only time I found them somewhat useful and not a nuisance, was when they brought home a pet fox.

Children can add a unique dynamic to a game. When children are in danger, people are generally more motivated to save them or rescue them because most people naturally want to protect the innocent child. Unless they are like the children of Skyrim where most people just want to attack them.

As far as I know there is only one child in the game, who is dead and is in the form of a ghost. It's one of the AD quests I believe in Grahtwood, and the quests does play a bit on sympathies as you want to help free the kid from being trapped by his deranged father.

Oooorrrrrrrr gather them all into an orphanage before barring the doors and windows closed; setting the entire place on fire because they offend you... just a suggestion. =)

Plenty of useless npcs that I can't kill or pickpocket, who have one line of dialogue that repeats ad nausem.

What's one more useless npc here or there? No skin off my back if they add them or not.

Would it be nice? Maybe. Did I question it when I saw the cribs and the tiny beds? Yeah it was a bit creepy. Will I loose sleep over Zos excluded kid npcs? Nah.

Well, you see there was this Pied Piper dressed in Jester's costume who was stiffed on his payment for leading all the skeevers out of Tamriel. So, in retaliation, he then lured all the children across Tamriel out with his magic flute.

He then led them to where he had amassed all the skeevers and well, you can guess why there are no children and all skeevers are now plump and have voracious appetites!

Sad, but true story as told to me by M'aiq the Liar.

    I do.

It was on the olde days of FallOut2... when there were children in the game, but since they were killable, they got removed in the EU versions. Which led to some vexing events... because in one city, the children would steal items from you, but if you caught on, you could steal them back before they ran to their fence and sold them. In the EU version, the children were gone, but still stealing your items... with no chance to get them back. So you were walking through a door, and suddenly... your second-favorite set of power armor was somehow missing. Or that ammo gor your gun. Or whatever. Annoying!
