Warden - Swarm morph

Which morph of Swarm did you go with and why?
I'm leaning towards Fetcher Infection, cause with Growing Swarm, I kinda feel like by the time the 10s are up and it spreads, everything is gonna be dead anyway.

When a Growing Swarm infected NPC dies, it infects others right then, even when the 10 seconds are not yet up.

I'm slacking too much on my Magden leveling, have you perchance tested what happens if swarm gets purged? Does it still infect other targets in that case?

Growing Swarm is really useful when fighting groups. Infect one person, kill them quickly and the others get infected. It's like a delayed AOE attack when you get good with it. And it works great with other AOEs you use.

Growing swarm is far better imo, because as pointed out it spreads as soon as the infected target dies.

Neither is very useful in PvP.. in many cases it's just a free magicka battery for shield spamming classes (harness magicka)

Growing swarm seems useless. Trash mobs die so fast to AOE that the spreading serves no purpose. And in PvP, if you kill one target in an enemy group so that the swarm spreads to others, chances are the group was about to wipe anyway. At least that's my experience in PvP - as soon as members start to die, a group wipe is only a couple of seconds away.

Fetcher infection at least makes for a strong single target DOT to complement your other singe target damage.

except fighting trash groups rarely works this way. they pretty much all die together due to the nature and quantity of easy to get and use aoe's in this game.

swarm is for your single target bar. you dont need more than bulwark, fissure, and winters revenge with lightning staff heavy attacks. arctic blast only ticks 5 times for less than 40% damage per tick of winters revenge it is NOT worth slotting for more aoe, only survivability.

if you chose to not use tri focus and went with a frost staff well 1) please buy a calculator or get an app and 2) you are solo what does it matter what ya use?

if you queue as dps and use a frost staff in a group with tri focus expect to get punted quickly. if you queue for a vet dungeon with a frost staff and no tri focus excpect to get punted quickly. frost staves are a trap - they are for tanking only.

Neither, because both morphs are broken and won't proc skoria, which would be the only reason to run it in pvp at all.

Fetcher Infection. It procs scathing mage, does more damage and with force pulse as a spammable, that makes a great build. Problem with basically all warden skills is that they only tick every two seconds... So as far as proc sets is concerned, others have a slight advantage.

Has Growing Swarm any uses? I mean which mob group lives 10 seconds? In trials maybe? For solo content this morph is crap in my eyes and should be changed (I already suggested a change in the Warden improvements thread).

Fetcher Infection is nice and makes the DoT even stronger. Before waiting 10 seconds for Swarm to spread to 6 targets I could rather use it manually with half of them dealing 50% more damage.

Tried growing swarm first because it sounded quite powerful.

Respeced quite quickly after putting it into practice.

Fetcher. Single target dps for pve, and burst for pvp is all that really matters.

It will spread the instant the target dies, which makes it great for dropping into a crowd in pvp on a low health target. It also heals you for each of the 6 targets its on when it wears off/they die, which can be decent.

I went with growing swarm but may switch to fetcher. I primarily Pvp and can't be certain of growing swarm's effectiveness. I may experiment with fetcher just to see how the extra cast effects my sustain. We'll see.

deep fissure+blockade+winter's revenge + lightning HA channel (usually not as all are allready dead when fissure lands) = all trash dead. Morph swarm for 1 target damage.

As others have noted, Growing Swarm in PvE is useless because mobs die faster than it takes the time to 'spread'; I save FI for higher health targets.

Necroing this thread instead of creating a new one.

When I use Growing Swarm on one target and then directly a second time, does it spread? Or really just when I kill the target/duration is over?

If you are ever in a situation where you want your dots to spread, you would have been throwing out aoe attacks anyway, so the mobs will be dying together and the dot spread is pretty useless.

If you are purposefully singling out one mob to kill fast and spread swarm, you could have been casting aoes anyway and your total time to kill the group of mobs would be faster.
