Why RNG is a double edged sword.

Old players are bound prisoners chasing the dragon and returning players get demoralized and quit. No one wins long term.

Are you happy? It's just a game so no one should take it seriously and just enjoy what we have.

The better question is don't you want more? because i know this game could be a lot better than it is right now.

Sadly i am not the one forcing my vision upon you.

A double edged sword implies there is something positive about it. There is nothing positive about RNG grinding.

True, true. The saying implies something having both a great advantage and a great disadvantage. In regards to OP, this seems more like a pistol where the handle and trigger are fine and normal, but the barrel is backwards facing the user.

It took me 19 months and a good 300+ runs in vMA to get the sharp inferno stave, still no sharp lightning either!
The system makes little sense as it's not progressive nor rated by skill, it's sheer luck based!

The rng - token combination is one of the best system ever : rng give us short term hope and give us the will to play, while token give us long term hope and give us reason to stay.
Sadly, ZoS forget the token part, and a lot of players are boring because of the horrendous drop rate for good items. Yesterday, I tried to farm green pact 1h weapons, I got 19 resto staff (5 from green pact), one lightning staff and one 2 handed (and not even a green pact one). And on armor pieces, I got 39 training and 28 prosperous for 89 loots… with one infused (shoes) and two divines (both from the medium set). These types of loot give me absolutely no will to farm an another set, so I'll play less because I won't even test my numerous build ideas.

Maybe if you cleared your head and stopped Chasing-the-Dragon you would see there is plenty to do in this game to keep one happy.

I do not become demoralisesd but there again, my cup is always half full and not half empty. No one can force their visions on me; it is down to me as to what I accept or reject. o:)

The worst thing are completely useless traits on set items.

Prosperous and Training traits should have been excluded from (non-crafted) sets a long time ago. It's just a slap in the face, expecially if you spend dozens of hours getting a certain item to even drop.

Pretty much this. I'm tired of farming one boss in a public dungeon, only to have someone pull the ENTIRE area into that same boss so he can light attack it without offering any other support what so ever. I ran into that for almost two hours and I still didn't get the drop I wanted. My guild leader swooped in and got the item I was looking for just so I could get out of there.

Give us a freaking token system already.

A solution that allows ZOS to keep random grinds in the game and gives the players a little more control would be to allow us to re-roll the traits. Introduce a new material that can be used to re-forge or re-craft the trait. Allow it to drop from overland mat nodes and from deconstructing gear. Each time you re-roll the gear piece the costs increase. ZOS gets their beloved RNG on top of RNG but at least there are more options for players other than the piece you want vs pure trash. It also add another valuable trade item people can make gold from as well. Of course it could be a complete waste of time with their typical "rare" drop rates. Would have to be much less rate than even nirncrux to be viable.
"it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days." - Matt Firor
