A few questions: Staves, Morrowind, Champion Points

So I have been away from ESO for awhile and with the upcoming release of Morrowind I am looking to get back into the game. I have read a lot of varied information on it but have also heard that there are some noticeable changes from when I played last (probably 6 months or so). I was hoping people could clarify something or at least point me to valid sources so I can get the details.

I heard morrowind causes a change to the opening when you make a new character, different from the coldharbour tutorial area. Is this true?

There used to be a glitch with destro staves I experienced where on a kill it would have a lag hiccup for a second, is that still an issue or has it been fixed/is there a workaround? I ask this a week or so ago in th combat section and 1 person said it was fixed and another said it was related to a perk so I was hoping for more info from people.

Lastly, again kinda vague but I have heard that there is a change to the Champion Points in some way. Not really sure what it was but there was a lot of commments I remember on the forums awhile back about it.

Sorry if this is a bit vague, but I have not been keeping up on ESO that well for awhile and by all rights I am still a noob/casual. My highest character was at 260 something and I played mostly as a healer. I am looking to build a sorcerer and am more interested in solo/pve content. I have been unsure of getting back into the game so I was hoping some people could just help put me on the right track. Also just to specify I am on Xbox NA if it matters. Thanks.

For the CPs, if you don't have experience just yet, just take a look at alcast's CP allocations for each build and follow the instructions.

I will certainly take a look at that, it was more that I heard that some of the CP were being altered in what they did. I was planningg on making a new character here shortly if I did decide to play again and I was aiming for sorcerer with a destro staff mainly. Not that interested in most of the melee weapons unless I figure out somehing that fits with my RP build.

yes, if you purchased the expac, then new characters zone right into Vvardenfell on a boat. I skipped the tutorial so I do not know what its like.
Although I don't know what happens to new players that have not bought the xpac. I guess they still load into their faction starting zone after the cold harbour tutorial.

If you bought the expac and use a shrine to travel to the old world, an NPC will appear and give you a quest that starts the coldharbour/vestige quest line. You will be forced to take the coldharbour tutorial as the first quest in the chain.

I don't know about the destro staff bug, but sometimes my characters glich out, get stuck in an animation, and I cannot use any abilities. Maybe this is the same bug.

The biggest change you will see in CP is that the stars for reducing ability costs have been removed which is very noticeable.

You start off in a ship that is attacked. You are taken as a slave, but immediately released by an assassin. You then run around a small island helping the other slaves and eliminating the slavers. After you save the day, you sail off to Vvardenfell.

It's actually pretty fun. If you have an open character slot, I would suggest making a new toon to try it out.

    destro staff

i know the issue you are refering to and while the game can occasionally still have a millisecond stutter when something dies (in trials and PvP) it is nowhere near as bad as it was

    the CP is completley changing
so 'diminishing returns' is now a major thing with CP
i am going to try my best to explain this - sorry if im confusing

so as you may remember you can apply up to 100 CP in each option.
with the new changes applying 50 CP will give you 75% of the maximum value

the alcast site will give you optimised guides
there are posts here on the forums that explain things such as jump points (basically try to go for round numbers)

since i am on console i am just telling you what i understand from forum posts - rather than 1st hand knowledge

Hmmm, well that seems a little odd about the change to the opening. I mean isn't the main plot of the game still supposed to be about the anchors and molag bal? I guess I should ask then if it is more or less natural an opening if you were playig a new character who planned on doing everything except thhe DB quests?

I am going to run around in eso with an old build to see how bad the glitchness feels with the staff. Seeing as I dont pvp or trials I hope it wont be much if at all.

I use destro on both bars and can say the lag really never happens anymore. It used to be unbearable, but one of the recent patches seems to of cleared it up. I use both lightning and fire staves...hope this helps!

that does sound fun! I skipped it because the cold harbour tutorial was boring and thought it would be the same. I will give it a try

I will certainly give it a shot, hope it was cleared up. I do not mind the occasional hiccup in stuff, it just was incredibly annoying and constant last time I tried it. But again, that was quite some time ago.

That opening does sound fun, I guess I just do not know how that fits into the original coldharbour story/opening. If he morrowind road, how exactly does the original story work? Do you get caught and sacrificed thus starting the coldharbour area or is it something else?

One other quick question, a buddy of my just told me that some of the skills for various classes and weapons are also being changed a bit, is that true? If so I do not suppose there is a link to the patch notes or whatever that lists out all the changes.

a lot of skills & passives have changed since you last played, and moe will change again when morrowind goes live.
if you hit recent at the top of the screen the most recent PC patch notes are stuck to the top of the feed.

one major change to note since you plan to use staves is to destro staff passives
inferno staff increases single target damage
    lightning increases aoe damage
ice staff allows you to use magic to block attacks & a fully charged heavy attack now also acts as a taunt
so basically if you want to DD with an ice staff do not spend the skill points in the passives until you have complete control over your rotation
theres nothing worse than a dd dragging agro from tank, i know you said you dont do trials but world bosses are a lot tougher than they used to be, and are now a group effort for the majority of players - you will often see request pop up in text chat for help at a boss. (cant remember when it was introduced but console have text chat now)

Morowind's story is a prequel to the original story. You start on Morrowind and get the original story line once you travel to the mainland.

Oh really? Well that would fit and make more sense plot line wise then. If that is the case then that might not be so bad really. So does that mean you will eventually still end up escaping coldharbour with Lyris but it is just a 'normal' quest and not a tutorial?

Ah, thank you. That helps a lot, going to read up on the patch notes to see what has changed and get an idea of what will change with Morrowind's release.
