Many of us already have most of the skyshards on many characters. It would essentially be a punishment to long term players to make such a change. The reality is, especially after leveling one character, is we know what we were getting into.
Further, and while small, a very good point, there are 6 shards where 4 of them are more of a challenge to get, not impossible by any means, but they are behind alliance gates. This idea would mean it would be to easy to get since it would merely take having a character in each alliance.
Overall, not a good idea.
Would you kindly expand on the part where you consider it a punishment? In my opinion it would actually be a reward, considering that I'm 99 percent sure that it would be beneficial for you!

Sure, easily, but with a comparison.
Zos added research speed up to the crown store. Personally, I have no issue with that since it is costly if someone really uses it but Zos kept the research system in place instead of nerfing it or making it essentially account wide.
They did something that few, but some, are upset with that already went the months doing research yet still offered players a means to speed things up on their alts and such. If they had basically nerfed research more would have been upset about it.
As for support for your idea. sure, people like to go the easy route. It is natural for a great many. people. That does not mean it should happen.

Well I agree that it would make things easier. But thats the whole point. Very few people would chose to run around when they could for an example run trials, try out maelstorm arena with other classes. Wouldn't it be nice to have a choice?

I agree. It would be nice to have a choice and an ideal item to put into the crown store. Merely adding it to the base game is not a choice but a freebie.
Basically I am more in agreement with Tavor. The poll also suggest the same, that more are not interested in automatic shards.

The poll so far suggests that 70% of players wish a change to be introduced to the skyshard system. 50% of the players agree that they should be accoutwide in one way or another.

I am all for them being presented on the map once you found them (for console love), but I can't and will never be in agreement that skyshards should be account wide or accessable when you hit 50. It just waters down the game too much and it is already on the brink of being minecraft.
And to @Walks_With_Kagouti - yes skyshard hunting is boring if that is ALL you are doing. It's on the same level as mindlessly grinding dolmens or zombies. It's not how the game was designed to be played, so it is "unnatural" in the ESO world. It feels off because it is counter to what they designed the game to be.

MORE. ALL THE POLLS! Polls will continue until morale improves!
The community appears divided on the subject, probably due to various opinion, but of those who voted it appears to be the largest majority (currently 46% at the time I posted this) prefer to make them account wide, with only 30% of voters opting to keep the system as it is.
I liked collecting them all once.
I dont prefer to have to hunt them all down again.
New shards, sure!
Old shards...no thanks. Its just another time sink that prevents me from actually enjoying my characters abilities when they become available.

You seem to count the third option as in favor of accountwide shards... which isn't the case. Option #3 just unlocks their location, basically it offers similiar functionality to the "skyshards!" add-on to consoles. You'd still be required to collect them to get the skillpoints.
Voted that way since console players have no add-ons like we PC players do. Other than that, skyshards are entirely fine as is and we don't need to have accountwide.
The problem with discussions like these that advocate for change in ESO is that most people who vote for no change do so because they have had to suffer/deal with the system, and hate how new people don't have to if it is changed.
Look at posts that advocate for account wide achievements, vma tokens, removal of trash traits in loot pool, and other similar discussions. The large majority of people against these changes only do so because, for example, to them it's unfair how they have to run vma 5000 times but new players don't.
I too have multiple characters that have recollected skyshards over and over again and I am not looking forward to doing so with my Warden. It is not fun by any means. I don't care if it's easy, it's time consuming and considering all the bs RNG in this game, time is a precious commodity to those of us with busy lives.
So please, those of who want no change think about the majority of players rather than the "integrity" of the game or RP reasons or whatever.
