Is anyone else fed up with the quality of writ maps?

Honestly zos needs to fire whoever designs these maps. Most of the time I have no trouble but every now and then I'll get one or two that are next to impossible to find so I just end up destroying them after I wasted time to try to find them with no luck.

So just so I'm clear here, to the map writ designer, YOU SUCK.

Would you rather just want a container with the mats in it?

Once youve done em a few times youll remember each location.. otherwise Google is a dear friend that will lead you to various pages or images of maps and videos to show you the exact location..

Yea I looked up the one's in craglorn and orsinium back in the day but now that we go allover to find claim our writ surveys it has become an inconvenience. I just wish we could get better landmark detail versus a half faded road or stream to base our location off of.

I'm sorry but anybody who says you'll remember them after doing them a few times is joking hard... there's literally like what... 200 different map locations? Sorry but nobody is going to remember that. That's like saying after harvesting nodes a few times you'll know where they all spawn... sure you'll remember 1 or 2, but don't joke around - nobody is remembering the locations of 200 maps.

Google on the other hand is the only way to actually get these done - and that's an indication of flawed design.

Idk who was the genius that switched it from orsinium only to everywhere making it a huge pain in the ass to collect them... I rather do the writ and open a crate with the mats

I always boot up my laptop when collecting me surveys on PS4, the maps are not helpful at all in game.

Yup. I know the feeling. Here's what I do to make it less awful on XBox.

First, only go collect them when you have 2 or more. Just let them pile up for a while.

Then I port to the approximate area and do 15 or so minutes of node farming while I comb the area for the writ reward area. If it takes more than about 15 or 20 minutes ... Google => YouTube => Done.

The survey maps themselves are fine, especially since we can get their location via Google searches.

However, it is a pain that Zos spreads out surveys across all the original zones, craglorn and Wrothgar. I find it ironic, and a real tease on the part of Zos that they made it so surveys stack at the same time surveys went across all of these zones. A basic insult since it is so much more work now.

I think the point is missed here.

Yes, you can Youtube every single map, or navigate to a website. Unfortunately, add ons are not possible on console.

Some of the maps are vague and very frustrating to find.

I actually HATE the Survey system since 1T. Now, I have to go everywhere rather than one zone.

The community asked for it and frankly I approve. Most craglorn locations were a pain and after a few trips just like doing work. On top of that, about half are really close to way shrines now!

If you run 15+ characters through all 6 writs every day, yeah, you remember them.

There are a few spots where I seriously doubted ZoS' sanity. For one, I finally figured out how to get to by jumping rock to rock, going through a vampire cave, skirting Hircine's followers, praying at a shrine and finally jumping off a cliff.

Of course, when I was finished and looked around there was a path to the main road over flat terrain....

Actually, yes.

it seems to me that the trek there for these serves no purpose.

For some things in game, going to them is part of the design to put you near to and unlock quests and locations - not so with these cuz a character may never get them. So they do not lead to any place that triggers anything following.

For some things, there would be a challenge at the end to overcome. Not so with these, very few have any varmints clser than typical spread. those are just typical overlanders not anything special. Would be different if they were boss-level or maybe the sky-drop waves of daedra maybe but now, no, its just trek for trek's sake.

So, honestly, after i have done the writ and "earned" the survey, what is served beyond wasting my time by making me trek there instead of giving me the goods?

i have stacks and stacks of these, cuz i hold them and let them stack up and only go when i need the mats and then i tend to not go to anything where i have fewer than 4-5 surveys - tho if the demand is there that can change. north of 300 for just enchanting and alchemy.

So not only is the trek the waste of time for no benefit, but also then once there the harvest, then run away then come back and lather rinse repeat.

I think surveys are a good thing in that they give an infrequent bonus reward, but if they cut the rewards by 50% and just gave me the goods so that they did not take the extra time, i would be delierius.

that is time i could spend doing more fun stuff - like content.

At the very least, they should let us sell them like we can treasure maps.

On another note to do with these writ surveys,has anyone actually found any atherial dust? Cause I though they could be found in resource nodes but I farm all the time and never have I found a single one.

i hate getting Cyrodiil maps, since it is PvP zone, doesnt make sense to explore for treasures when other players killing players for territoral towers, outposts, and some mining posts.
some maps are drawn terrible and often inaccurate, some maps show the roads that look like rivers. i had to look up map guide site, often too vague or less details.

i found 2 atherial dust few months ago, cant remember where i found it or how i got it. got those 2 on my first week playing it.
